Assemblywoman , who is passionate about , is hosting the Daniel's Day Community Wellness Event at Utica Avenue & Montgomery Street in Brooklyn. The Assemblywoman chose this location because this is where died by police in 2019, after NYPD responded to 911 calls. Saheed was known by the community to be harmless, but at that moment, Saheed was in crisis when arrived and shot at him 10 times, killing him.

In addition to paying respect to Daniel Prude, we'll also hold space for Saheed Vassell, Dwayne Jeune, , and many others who died by cops in NYC during a Mental Health crisis.

To promote for adults and kids, we'll have: Therapy (plant, art, music, dance, sound), Spritual healing, mindfulness and meditation, blood pressure screening, coloring books, chess games, spoken word/ poetry, pendulum energy as well as lawyers who specialize in disability, benefits, housing, commuity advocates & activists, elected officials, and more.

Join us THIS SATURDAY, in Solidarity, as we aim to empower communities.

RP from
SAVE THE DATE: Assemblywoman Monique Chandler-Waterman (), The Daniel's Day Committee including Justice for Eudes Pierre Coalition invites you to Daniel's Day and Community Wellness Event, Saturday September 23rd, 2023, 3-7pm, Utica Ave & Montgomery St in Brooklyn, NY.

A series of coordinated events are being held statewide to raise awareness about the need for a public health response - not police - for people experiencing a crisis (PEC). This campaign is a response to the March 2020 death of Mr. Daniel Prude who was experiencing a crisis (PEC) while under the influence of substances.  Sadly, the Rochester police officers who responded didn’t understand how to engage with Mr. Prude. After that inhumane encounter, Mr. Prude was pronounced dead at a local hospital a few days later.

Too many people, particularly people of color, have died at the hands of the police, when what they desperately needed was help. The goal of the Brooklyn event is to celebrate Mr. Prude's birthday and build community and mental health awareness in Memory of Daniel Prude, Dwayne Juene, Saheed Vassell, our Beloved , and other individuals directly impacted.

As such, this office is also requesting and extending an invitation to all community partners and impacted families to support this critical event with relevant resource tabling. Please click the in our link.tree to register and for more information.
