🌿Connecting Before Directing🌿

In our sessions, we use a relationship-based approach, which focuses on connection first. Instead of directing play, we follow the child's lead- joining their world before inviting them into ours. 💚

Sometimes that world includes a beloved stuffed animal who tags along to every session. That stuffy isn't " just a toy"- it's a bridge for connection, offering comfort, predictability, and felt safety. When a child feels safe, they're more open to explore, problem, solve, and connect with others.

We might talk to the stuffy, included in our game, or let it help us take turns- small moments that create big opportunities for regulation, engagement, and joy. 🐉❤️

When we slow down and meet a child where they are- even if it means joining them in a story their stuffy started- we build the foundation for trust, communication, and shared attention.

Every giggle, glance, and back-and-forth moment matters. 🌳

🎲 Today's home OT session featured Q-Bitz-Jr., a playful way to build important skills while having fun!

✨ Through this game, kids worked on:

🔷Executive Functioning- planning moves, staying flexible with strategies, and managing frustration.

🔷 Visual Perceptual Skills- matching, spatial awareness, and attention to detail.

🔷 Social Participation- taking turns, practicing patience, and celebrating each other's successes.

Games like Q-Bitz-Jr create a natural space for learning, growth, and joy- right from the comfort of home.

🌿✨ Nature-Based OT Highlight ✨🌿

This week in OT, we explored creativity and sensory play by making plant imprints in clay. Children collected leaves and flowers, then pressed them into the clay to capture the delicate patterns and textures. 🌿🎨

This simple yet powerful activity builds:

✔️ Fine motor strength & hand coordination
✔️ Sensory awareness through touch and texture
✔️ Creativity and self-expression
✔️ Connection with nature 🌎💚

Nature provided endless opportunities for growth and learning-sometimes in the smallest details, like the veins of a leaf!

✨Outdoor OT Session Highlight✨

This week in our nature-based OT session, we used the curriculum to explore interoception- our ability to notice the signals inside our bodies. 🌿

We read the story Each Kindness together, using it as a springboard to talk about what it feels like in our bodies when something is uncomfortable - like sadness, worry, or regret. 💭❤️

Afterward, we shared ideas about what helps us feel better when our bodies send us those signals- whether it's movement, deep breaths, time in nature, or connecting with a friend. 🏃‍♂️🌳🤗

Helping kids tune into their internal cues is a powerful step toward building emotional awareness, empathy, and self-regulation.

At Wild & Free OT, therapy just doesn't happen inside four walls- it happens under the sky, in the fresh air, and surrounded by nature! 🌿

We believe the outdoors is one of the best therapy tools. From splashing in creeks to climbing logs, the natural environment offers endless ways for kids to explore their senses, build strength, develop coordination, and grow confidence -all while having fun. 🌻

And we know it's not just about the child- it's about the whole family. That's why we partner with you, offering strategies, consultations, and practical ideas to bring the benefits of therapy into your home and community. 💚

Here, therapy feels like play...because it is!
