Eating foods rich in certain nutrients can help alleviate brain fog and boost your memory.
There has been extensive research done into studying the effects of certain minerals and vitamins in relation to brain function. It's common sense that sugar although a temporary stimulant quickly loses it's luster and although we might feel very vibrant and alive after eating a candy bar, within an hour or two our bodies have become sluggish and less responsive. Our minds and therefore our memories would feel the same high and crashing low if fed a diet of sweets.
Foods that are rich in antioxidants are said to work in helping memory function. Some examples of foods readily available that are high in antioxidants include carrots and certain kinds of nuts. Green tea is also an excellent source of antioxidants and its benefits reach well beyond boosting the memory.
Another product that helps with memory function is soy. Eating foods like tofu will provide benefits that help improve memory. Another great source of soy is the soy milks that are available in most food markets. Many are flavored and the taste although not exactly the same as cow's milk is considered appealing to many people.
Most people use oil in some form for cooking and if choosing a specific type of oil can boost your memory it would seem sensible to incorporate it into your everyday cooking. Olive oil is a healthy choice for many reasons including its effects on memory function. Using it is a healthy way to work towards having less brain cloudiness and improved memory clarity. It's another step towards feeling confident that you are doing everything you can to ensure that your memory stays sharp.
Adjusting one's diet to balance the effects of memory loss seems a perfect solution. Need support? Contact me @ www.verafiednutrition.com/contact/.com.

Not all fats are the same, it pays to know the difference. The scientific complexities of these issues should not obscure the simple messages required to orient and guide consumers. People should eat less high-calorie foods, especially foods high in saturated or trans fats and sugar, be physically active, prefer unsaturated fat and use less salt; enjoy fruits, vegetables and legumes; and select foods of plant and marine origin. This consumption pattern is not only healthier but more favorable to the environment and sustainable development.

Obesity is the imbalance between declining energy expenditure due to physical inactivity and high energy in the diet (excess calories whether from sugar, starches or fat) is the main determinant of the obesity epidemic. Increasing physical activity, plus reducing intakes of foods high in fat and foods and drinks high in sugars, can prevent unhealthy weight gain. Taking these simple goals to concrete action requires major social and environmental changes in order to effectively promote and support healthier choices at the individual level.

Healthy diets and physical activity are key to good nutrition and necessary for a long and healthy life. Eating nutrient dense foods and balancing energy intake with the necessary physical activity to maintain a healthy weight is essential at all stages of life. Unbalanced consumption of foods high in energy (sugar, starch and/or fat) and low in essential nutrients contributes to energy excess, overweight and obesity. The amount of the energy consumed in relation to physical activity and the quality of food are key determinants of nutrition related chronic disease.

Stay strong, stay positive, stay INDOORS! Especially those sick, please help keep everyone else healthy.
You can do so by having produce, laundry, essentials delivered or there may be someone you can ask to pick up and drop at your door.

Wear a mask and gloves.

Keep your hair tied back when going out, if you could cover it that would be better.

Undress and put your outside clothes somewhere you won’t touch for a few days.

It’s best to shower after going out.

Wash what you buy or have delivered and use gloves when unpacking or opening packages.

The virus can be killed within 5 days of interaction. I will share this method shortly.

Tips to Smarter Snacking!

Are you a ‘between-meal’ eater? Many of us are, but that doesn’t mean you have to visit the vending machine all day. There are smarter ways to snack throughout the day where you can lower your calories and still fill the hunger gap.
When you need a wake-up or a quick energy jolt: Eat a small breakfast of carbs and protein (cereal, egg, milk) or have an AM snack of proteins like peanuts or cottage cheese.
Before leaving the office for a meeting: A quick piece of fruit or chunk of cheese is good if you don't know when lunch is coming.
Before working out: You might want to pump up with a piece of fruit and a big glass of water.
After school or work: A small sandwich and a glass of milk will work. Don’t eat all the way until dinner, for example, cookies, crackers, soda, you won’t be satisfied. If you are cutting calories have some cut-up veggies or a rice cake with peanut butter or cheese.
When out with friends: Try splitting a dessert or appetizer when you go for dessert or to grab a bite with your friends.
Before partying: A cracker and cheese or little carrots are a good choice to take the edge off. Drink an equal amount of water after every drink when you can.
Before bed: Milk contains tryptophan, which makes some people sleepy, and chai tea can be soothing.
Snacking not only helps ease those nasty hunger pains, but it relaxes and softens stress. Snacking should not be used to escape boredom. Find the smart snacks that fit both your individual needs and the occasion at hand.
