New York State requires doctors to test all children with a blood lead test at age 1 year and again at age 2 years. A blood test is the only way to know if your child has been exposed. The lower the test result, the better.

Lead exposure can cause serious health problems, especially in young children. It can harm a child’s growth, behavior, and ability to learn.

Visit www.cayugacounty.us/NHFL for more information and be sure to have your child tested.

🚨 RECALL 🚨Town Food Service Equipment Co., Inc. of Brooklyn, NY is recalling aluminum saucepans, because it has the potential to be contaminated with lead (Pb) which may leach into food.

The saucepans being recalled were distributed in many states, including New York, through its network of authorized food service equipment dealers, which include retailers, between January 1, 2023 and November 30, 2025.

Lead is toxic to humans and can affect people of any age or health status, and there is no known safe level of exposure to lead. Even low levels of lead exposure can cause serious health problems, particularly in children and fetuses.

Good morning everyone! The main story this week will be the significant lake effect snow event expected tonight through Thursday. Strong gusty winds combined with heavy snow could cause whiteout conditions at times across portions of the I90 Corridor, making travel extremely difficult if not impossible. Go to our briefing page at https://www.weather.gov/bgm/briefingMain for more details on this upcoming lake effect event.
