The holidays can be emotionally tumultuous. Our minds may feel like a ping-pong ball, bouncing between euphoria and disappointment, joy and grief, annoyance and cheer.

In this workshop, we will explore how Buddha’s teachings on compassion and cherishing others can create a steady, peaceful mind. Through these teachings, along with meditations and a Q&A with teachers, we will make a game plan for deeply enjoying the holiday season while benefitting others. Let’s get our minds sparkly and refreshed for the festivities!

What a Paint Night!!!

Last night we learned about the 8 auspicious symbols and taught us how to to paint them like the pros do 👨‍🎨👩‍🎨🧑‍🎨 (and how to keep a happy mind even if our painting didn’t go as planned 🫠)

Thank you to all our artists, Kadam Kyle, Grady Barker and our volunteers for the fun night!

Paint Night! The Eight Auspicious Symbols

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14

Time: 7 pm - 9 pm
Teacher: Grady Barker and Kadam Kyle
Cost: Free for members, $20 for non-members

For this year’s annual paint night, we will be painting the Eight Auspicious Symbols—an umbrella, fish, vase, lotus, conch, knot of eternity, victory banner, and Dharma Wheel.

These are traditional Buddhist symbols which depict our journey along the path to Enlightenment. The umbrella, for example, represents the Buddhist community and how our communal practice protects our mind. The fish represents the importance of harmony with others.

We will begin with a short talk explaining the symbols after which our experienced instructor will share essential painting skills. After that, you will have time to choose one or more symbols to paint yourself!

All painting supplies are included in the admission price. Registration is limited—please sign up early to guarantee a slot.

Enjoy this clip from today’s workshop on overcoming anxiety 😌

If we can leave class with just one strategy or idea that changes our mind, we can see that we can change our whole world and we are not stuck in our familiar (and sometimes negative) patterns.

Saturday Workshop!!

Dealing with anxiety does not mean trying to make everything perfect. Nor does it mean assuaging our worry by thinking, ‘everything will be okay’ or ‘look on the bright side!’

Rather, it’s about seeing that our feelings are determined not by our external circumstances, but by how we respond to them.

By relinquishing our efforts to control everyone and everything, we can heal our minds. We will learn how to welcome unpleasant feelings and understand their root causes. With new insight, we can reduce and eventually eliminate our habitual anxiety.

Everyone is welcome!

Wisdom Buddha Vajrayogini is the embodiment of the clear light of all Buddhas. When we rely on her—and imagine becoming her— we can quickly attain enlightenment.

The eleven yogas of Vajrayogini are specially suited to people with strong attachment and desire. These days, so many people struggle with craving. Vajrayogini practice can help us transmute our desires into the path to enlightenment. This is magical!

Note: This workshop is ONLY for those who have received a Highest Yoga Ta**ra empowerment or who sincerely wish to get one as soon as possible.
