Is it ADHD, dyslexia—or both? Many children struggle in school not because they aren’t trying, but because their learning differences go undiagnosed or misunderstood.

Learning and attention problems co-occur in at least 20% of people, which makes proper diagnosis and support a tricky process.

Dr. Mannis joined News 12 Be Well with Kristie Reeter to talk about how recognizing the signs early can make all the difference helping kids build confidence, focus, and the tools they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

🧠 “We’re diagnosing children based on the wrong question — when really the question is, ‘What is this child telling us?’”

Dr. Mannis' recent interview with the Daily Mail, she discussed how the surge in autism diagnoses may, in some cases, be linked to common misdiagnoses. Too often, we rush to label rather than take the time to truly understand each child’s unique learning profile.

Our goal is always to look beyond the checklist and see the individual — to ask better questions, listen more closely, and identify what each child truly needs to thrive.

We enter this Simchat Torah with relief, anticipation and also heavy hearts. A reminder of the life cycle and paradoxes we face as we experience teachable moments with our children.

At Ivy Prep, we are proud of the opportunity to foster a love of learning and development in students of all faiths and in the resilience we witness at the individual and community level.

As we start a new cycle of Torah study, we wish a year of learning, love and laughter for all.

Wishing a meaningful Yom Kippur - May we all be sealed for a 5786 of health, good, and personal growth.

Thank you to the Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun weekly women’s Torah class - the camaraderie and opportunity it provides to consider Rabbi Sacks wisdom and internalize the timeless messages of the weekly Parsha.
