AN EVENT YOU CANNOT MISS in Newark.

ALCE Nueva York

On October 29th 2024 our fellow citizens from the Autonomus Regions of Aragón, Castilla La Mancha, Andalucía, Cataluña and Valencia, were affected by a Cold Front or DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos) which caused an unprecedented humanitarian and environmental catastrophe in Spain.

The DANA caused the overflowing of rivers and ravines of the Mediterranean area of our country, provoking flash floods that were especially devastating in the region of Valencia.

In January 4th 2025, it was reported that this tragedy has displaced thousands of people from their homes, leaving them without access to food and water and very sadly, has left behind over 240 fatalities.

In an effort to alleviate the burden of the people of Valencia, in lieu of these terrible circumstances, and as a demonstration of our support from the distance, our AMPA Newark has decided to organize an event to fundraise $10,000.00, in collaboration with our dear Chef José Andrés' non-profit organization World Central Kitchen (WCK), the Agrupación de Lengua y Cultura Españolas (ALCE) and the Education Office of the Consulate General of Spain in New York.

José Andrés' Maestro Cortador de Jamón, Carlos Sánchez, will be our special guest at the Club de España in Newark, New Jersey, next Saturday, January 25th. He will talk about his craft, share anecdotes from his career and spend some time, as family, with us for a good cause.

We sincerely hope you can join our Community in this occasion. We would love you to accompany us during this event, which we are eagerly and lovingly preparing. If you are unable to attend, please do not worry. You may contribute by sending a donation, becoming a Sponsor, donating raffle prizes/baskets, or simply by sharing this initiative with family and friends. EVERY EFFORT COUNTS.

We hope to see you there!

As always, thanks a million!

Fondly,

Sara Medina Álvarez
