This came from our Vet after Cookie passed. This was really a hard loss. Cookie was a lot like a dog. He was smart, spunky and vocal. Everyday he wheeked constantly for food. He spoke to you by lifting up the ball to tell you he wanted treats. He knew tricks.

We miss him ssooo much!

The passing of our guinea pigs teaches us to value the spirit of others. They can’t speak but boy do they have personality. I miss this little guy but learning to say, I’m glad I had the opportunity to know him is a stretch. WE all want more time with them, but sometimes it just can’t happen. Accepting that is the hard part. Learning that there are many Cookies in our lives right now and more to come is in large, the beautiful part of living and dying. When people and pets leave us, we learn how to value, embrace and be grateful for what we had. This is a hard lesson, but one that is necessary.

Attended MoMa Workshop with Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya. We will be adding to this wonderful Soft Sculpture exhibit which goes live next year at the MoMa. A great way to connect to community through art!

In thinking about what clients need, sometimes it can be such a.dance. I can pour over articles, try to do the right thing or find the right intervention or technique. Now.. is this my own anxiety…I ask myself.

Perhaps all they need to is feel understood, accepted and validated for their very existence no matter what form or shape or tone it comes in.

So then we do this dance together because then in turn, I am trying to be accepted as the “good enough” therapist.

We are all reaching together and as a therapist for many years, I can see that in today’s world, we are all struggling together and that to find self compassion and compassion in the world is harder and harder.

It makes me feel sad that our own anxiety, including my own is so real that we don’t realize the many forms it surfaces up in.

Thank you to all my current clients and former clients who have done this dance with me. I do feel honored and privileged to be a part of your life and also to have heard your stores.

I love bridges especially when light and dark cascades its shadows. This often reflects a journey that a lot us often take into self reflection. We see darkness and light ricocheting here and there all the while losing essences of ourselves but gaining strength through suffering.
This year my path felt like something that I dragged myself through. I suffered through some Hypothyroidism which left me depressed. It was difficult to get out of bed and getting motivated felt like dragging a bagful of bricks tied to my ankles. I managed to reach out to others but also allowed the tears to fall. These tears I treasure because they teach me that I am able to still continue to stand steadfast. They are mine and mine alone as I learn how to embrace all the parts of me which include the pain and the hurt of my past. I see the light at the end of this bridge and it comforts me, warms me. It feels safe. One day I will reach the light and it will envelop me and embrace me with gentle kindness.

This depicts my old high school cafeteria. I recently went to a reunion. Where I saw old and old faces. Glimpses of the past and memories came flooding in which brought about healing for me. The fresco on the right was restored because our year had a food fight which damaged it. My old buddy told me that our principal was so upset that he had to pay for it to be restored. I’m not the same person I was in high school and in some ways, they were and also were not. I was glad to see old friends and make new ones.

My friend and colleague took this photo. It says so many things and speaks louder than words. With therapy, there is more than what meets the eye or what comes out of our lips that is said and left unsaid but speaks volumes. I think this picture says it all
