🔥 If your moisturizer burns, that’s NOT a sign it’s working. 🚫🔥
Let’s clear this up: burning, stinging, or tingling is NEVER how a moisturizer should feel. 👎
That’s not the product “activating”...it’s your skin saying something is wrong. 😑
Here’s what burning actually means:
⚡️ Your skin barrier is irritated or compromised
⚡️ You’re reacting to an ingredient (fragrance, preservatives, or harsh additives)
⚡️ Your skin is too sensitized to tolerate the formula
⚡️ You may even be developing contact dermatitis
A proper moisturizer should feel soothing, calming, and comfortable within seconds...not spicy, hot, or prickly. 🌶️
So what SHOULD a moisturizer do?
✅ Hydrate the skin
✅ Reduce moisture loss
✅ Support barrier repair
✅ Calm irritation-not create it
What to do if your moisturizer burns:
🚫 Stop using it-immediately
💧 Rinse with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser
🧴 Switch to simpler formulas with ceramides, niacinamide, peptides, and humectants
🌿 Avoid fragrances, unnecessary additives, and “tingly” products
🤔The only exception?
Prescription actives (like retinoids, acne meds, benzoyl peroxide) may cause mild irritation...but basic moisturizers should NEVER burn. 🙅♀️
Your moisturizer should comfort your skin… not challenge it. 🤗
💬 Save this post if you’ve ever felt that “burn”...and want healthier, calmer skin.
