Meet one of the most ancient, authentic and powerful breeds around: The Caucasian Ovcharka, also know This page was created by me, Olena Skalenko.

a proud owner & breed enthusiast of Caucasian Ovcharka ('CO' in short, not to be mistaken for 'CO' as in 'Corrections Officer' lol). When I say I'm a "breed enthusiast", what I mean is that I'm actually very enthusiastic in DISCOURAGING of any potential INEXPERIENCED dog owners to even attempt to own one of these guys. As simple as that - this breed is NOT FOR EVERYONE. Hence the reason this page exists...

My goal is to help raise funds for a group of volunteers from Moscow, Russia, called "KO-Komanda" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ko.komanda/). These folks have been rescuing, fostering, rehabilitating and re-homing abandoned, mistreated and sick Caucasian Ovcharka's for the past 10 years. See, in Russia, they don't play around. Stray dogs are considered "biological trash" and as such, they are simply killed by either poisoned food or a firing squad. I kid you not, its well documented. CO's are especially unlucky due to their giant size and "scary" appearance. I am currently supporting about 7 Caucasian Ovcharka's, who are being fostered by KO-Komanda in Moscow and greater Moscow area. However, there's only so much I can do by myself... The 'problem' with KO-Komanda is that all of their social media (FB, IG, etc) is done in Russian, (naturally!) which obviously limits their reach and ability to ask the world for help. Currently KO-Komanda is struggling to come up with the resources for the monthly upkeep of the dogs (foster care, food, medical bills). At the moment, there are 44 CO's being fostered by KO-Komanda (and counting). As of today, April 1, 2016, four more dogs are being rescued from their horrible fate and God knows, how many more will follow. Some of these animals are old and will never be placed with families, but at least they will get to know a better life, once rescued. I simply can't watch this and do nothing and I know many of you feel the same. Yes, I know, there's suffering happening all over the place, by humans and animals alike. So why help Caucasian Ovcharka's? I say - help someone. Pick someone and help them - but I pick these guys and hope some of you will join me in this quest to improve their lives, whether you are a dog person, a cat person or a people's person :-) Let do this! x Team Caucasian Ovcharka

Dear friends... Sorry for the long silence... Its been a tough couple of weeks... Months even... More dogs rescued, not enough money raised, u know, the usual...

Its hard sometimes to keep doing this, to keep rescuing our doggies, to keep trying to get the funding for their monthly upkeep, medical expenses, trying to find them homes...

Why would anyone care about our rescues? Our orphans? People seem to have stopped caring about their own pets, dumping them left and right, on the streets, like garbage, not willing to deal with their "problems" (health issues, vaccinations, training, upkeep, etc)...

So what do we do? Take a deep breath and carry on. Currently at 44 dogs and counting.. WHY do we do this?? Because sometimes, the stars do align, the timing is right and we do find them a home, one sad doggy at the time...

And when we do, we get an email with a pic like this one...❤️❤️❤️ Nothing is better than to see how our former foster "baby" Muffin (on the right) is living "happily ever after", with people who love him and care for him in a way he deserves.

Знаете, иногда опускаются руки... Грустно, что свои-то животные часто людям не нужны, чего говорить о командных. Брошенных. Ничьих. Нужно оплачивать передержки, корм, прививки и ещё кучу всего. В соцсетях тишина, ни стольника не допросишься, ни лайка... И хочется все бросить...
Но получаешь такой привет из дома, как от нашей плюшки, нашего Маффина и понимаешь - не зря! Не зря все это. Все наши медвежата хотят так же. Дом, любовь, друзей. И зависит все только от нас с вами! Спасибо, что вы с нами в это нелегкое время.

Оказывается, что новогодние чудеса случаются!))) Сегодня в новый дом уехал наш Элечка, жить ребёнок будет в квартире), со спортивными родителями и двумя детишками.))) Ребята накупили ему преданного, нашли машину и в срочном порядке прилетели сегодня на передержку, чтобы Новый год отмечать вместе. Вчера все очень волновались, сегодня Эльку забрали, всё прошло более чем. Пока испытательный, дальше посмотрим. 😉

Meet INDIKA, a recently rescued striking female of about 4-5 years old. "If a tiger and a bear would have a baby, it would look like INDIKA" !!! She is big, some might say ginormous, with the typical personality - she is a serious lady that will guard you and your family with her life! If you know anyone with experience and knowledge of the breed and most of all the will to learn, please share and tag! We have also recently adopted a Caucasian Shepherd to a family in USA, so if u know anyone outside of Russia, who might me interested in adopting INDIKA, please let us know and we'll assist (if potential new owners are approved, of course!). Dumped as a tiny puppy and now 1 year old and still not adopted:-((( The orphan look in your eyes is killing us - yes, you have shelter and food and you are fostered and cared for, but what you really need is to know LOVE and ATTENTION of a family dog, cuddled and kissed on the nose and spoiled rotten. is compact, not too big not too small (35kg/70lbs) and has a personality of a saint!!! Породистая кавказская овчарка - в хорошие руки, бесплатно! Прошу репост!!
Карима - добрая, замечательная, семейная собака - девочка, которая уже не помнит жуткую, прошлую жизнь, с метровой цепью, без будки, воды и еды, с постоянными побоями.. Она даже там, в тех нечеловеческих условиях, не научилась ненавидеть человека. Карима доверяет людям и отдается им полностью вся, без остатка. Это чудо собака))) Каримушка хорошо относится к детям, на других собак порыкивает, но достаточно одной команды голосом и наша девочка других собак не замечает.))) К кошкам отношение негативное, дружить не будет.
Собака здорова, проглистогонена и привита по возрасту, имеется ветеринарный паспорт, а также стерилизована.
Пристраивается только в частный дом с вольерным содержанием, и с любящими мамой и папой рядом)). Желательно без других животных.

Hello, world! With X-Mas craziness upon us, please don't forget to think of those who need our help the most, those who can't speak for themselves or ask us for help, food, shelter, medical attention... like KORSA. This beautiful female was dumped by her "owners" with an excuse of all excuses (wait for it....) STEALING GRAIN FROM CHICKENS!!! We can't even.... People are seriously getting more and more creative with reasons why they no longer want to take their responsibility in life... anyways - enough with the negative!! is currently with our team, however... КОРСА, КОРИЧКА, КРАСУНЯ
Адекватная, человекоориентированная, очень добрая девочка по имени Корса. Что видела эта собака в своей жизни хорошего? Скорей всего, что ничего... Её бывшие "хозяева" сдали в усыпалку города Калуги с формулировкой "воровала пшено у кур". Что тут скажешь - дикость, сравнимая с пещерным веком(((((
Девочку мы, конечно, забрали, она сейчас находится на нашей передержке. Но, в силу финансовых проблем, которые сейчас, к сожалению, знакомы всем не понаслышке, у девочки образовалась нехватка финкураторов на 1500 рублей. Да, большая часть суммы есть, да всем сейчас нелегко, возможно скажете Вы, но, дело в том, что Корса лишь одна из многих наших кавказюлек, кто остался сейчас частично без финансовой поддержки. А они ведь должны что-то кушать, где-то жить...

Looking for his forever home and loving mama & papa this handsome 4 year old "baby" aka young, beautiful, mentally stable male called VAZA. Bought by his first owners to work as guard at a commercial property, VAZA was soon replaced by cameras and other equipment and basically abandoned. One of the workers tried to adopt him, but eventually couldn't handle the combined responsibility of having VAZA and taking care of his family. His current foster describes as well behaved young man, affectionate to his inner circle and unwelcoming to strangers, like a good should be. Важик - очень симпатичный, крупный парень 4х лет. Нарядного черно-белого окраса, без проблем по здоровью. Характер породный - адекватный спокойный кобель, в гневе страшен))))) Идеальный охранник и друг.
Пристраиваем в семью без маленьких детей, с опытом содержания и воспитания кавказов или САО. Наличие хорошего вольера и правильного питания, регулярные прогулки - обязательные условия. Строго не на цепь!
