Brilliant man. Brilliant read. He's been collecting seaweed on the Maine shore for decades and knows much about nutrition and immunity and Covid-19. Hope this brings some peace and encouragement to many out there. 🙏🏻

Dear Friends in the Circle,

My Contact letters about Covid-19 are being shared widely because they offer some very practical steps that can help us all.

Because there are so many newcomers to this Contact letter, I will summarize the essentials that have been shared in past Contact letters, and then I will move on to the "next step"....

So here's the first step: 90% of human immunity is nonspecific immunity, and that means we carry a salty ocean inside us, a bloodstream. Most of the critters that crawl into us cannot survive in a well-mineralized bloodstream. They become literally dehydrated through the process of osmosis, and they die. Seaweed supplies complex salts that nourish our complex inner ocean. Learn to make soup that includes seaweed Soup Mix. We are mostly made of water, and our digestion transacts at the level of water. Hot water extracts from seaweed are more potent than cold water extracts when it comes to fucoidan, an anticancer compound found in kelp, alaria, and digitata. If you don't know how to integrate seaweed into your daily diet, I suggest that our Variety Pack with Cookbook is a good place to start. The more you can shift toward a plants-based diet, the better you will feel. Nina's photographs in the cookbook will give you excellent examples of delicious recipes that contain seaweeds in right proportions, properly prepared. You can also find a lot of good recipes here.

Next step: Garlic is antiviral, but you must use it properly, in raw form. Crush it, let it sit for ten minutes, and then add it to soup that's already made (don't cook it, in other words), or add it to olive oil and some Italian herbs and dip your bread in it or make hummus with garbanzo beans (well cooked), salt, tahini, lemon juice, and crushed garlic (crushed, allowed to sit for ten minutes, then added to the cooled, room temperature hummus).

OK, next step: Eat your greens! Only one element needs to be swapped out of a molecule of chlorophyll to create a molecule of hemoglobin, and a bloodstream rich with hemoglobin has strong capacity to transport oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body. Parsley is especially potent for building hemoglobin and healing the lungs as well.

Next step: I was a respiratory therapist for two years. Covid-19 knocks out the cilia in the lungs, little hairs that create a wave of movement that expels mucus from the lungs. If you get a lung infection, whether it's flu or Covid-19, expectorant herbs like licorice will help soften the mucus, but you still have to cough it up and out, whether your cilia are helping you or not. That's where the respiratory therapist's ventilator comes to the rescue, but we already know there aren't going to be enough ventilators to go around, so the people who have done their homework, increasing their breath capacity, are going to recover the fastest. Here is your homework:

You're probably seated while reading this. That's fine. As you raise your arms over your head, inhale as much as you can, and then push it, inhaling a bit more, and a bit more. Keep your arms up over your head. Hold it, hold it, hold it. Then lower your arms toward the floor and exhale as much as you can, and then puff it out a bit more and even a bit more. Rest a moment. Now repeat the process two more times. The more you do this exercise, the more breath capacity you will develop.

If you are presently dealing with bronchial spasm, you can override the spasm by simply inhaling and holding. Over time, you'll find your breath capacity is increasing and the bronchial spasm is lessening.

One more thought about garlic. This is more esoteric, but I think it's interesting.
Garlic helps us to illuminate and see the negative. Ever watched one of the old classic vampire movies? When Count Dracula is finally caught sleeping in his closed coffin, and someone opens the coffin in broad daylight and drives a wooden stake soaked in garlic juice into the vampire's heart, that paralyzes the bastage forever! I like that swear word. It's part of my fire, and a healthy immune includes the ability to get up one's fire. Once you've developed deeper breath capacity, you will have more oxygen to feed the fire, and then when you shout, "Out! Out! You little bastages!"---the virus will get the message.

I remember when one of my apprentices had a plantar wart (caused by a virus) on the bottom of his foot, and he taped crushed garlic over the wart. That was the beginning of the process of "getting rid of the bastage". He went on to become a Harvard-trained lawyer who filed the first complaint vs.Trump in federal court based on the emoluments clause in the U.S. Constitution. The complaint was a 38 page laundry list of Trump's entanglements in international business.....enterprises that would tempt him to sell out our national interests in favor of his private interests. That complaint was the beginning of "getting rid of the bastage". In order to eliminate the negative, first you have to illuminate it. You have to name the dragon in order to tame the dragon. Please watch
Naomi Klein, doing her part to name the dragon. (While you're watching, do your homework breathing exercises.)

It is my prayer, for all of you, that you will develop a sense of quiet delight, just being in the moment, just watching your breath, just breathing....in any way appropriate to the moment. The universe is pulses of energy, and according to our present thoughts and form, we intercept that great pulse, and express it as heart pulse and breathing.
If you are feeling lonely, focus on the breath at the region of your heart, diaphragm, and solar plexus. Place a hand on your upper belly, and breathe into it. Watch breath, soften belly, open heart. That's the mantra for opening to the universal Beloved that
holds us all, telling us with every breath that we are not alone. We are all in this together. If you are feeling sadness or anxiety, practice inhaling and holding the inhale for a moment, and then surrender to the Beloved, in gratitude to Life. We are all in this together.

Sometimes when I sit down to quiet myself, I start out by reading this poem by David Whyte:

Enough

Enough. These words are enough.
If not these words, this breath,
If not this breath, this sitting here,
This opening up to the life
We have refused
Again and again,
Until now.
Until now.
Rest in the Light, abide in the Heart.

You may see some changes on my page. Bare with me as I go through this transformation in my life. Can I do it privately, sure. But I can also do it bravely in front of you. I'm tired of hiding behind the fear of failure. I'm human and imperfect. I have successes and failures. I learn lessons in life, sometimes more than once. I make choices and always put my best foot forward, sometimes without a clear vision ahead. But I have faith that I will land on my feet. I have faith in my heart and my drive. I will get through this, again. I will grow into the I choose to be.

We are a world of instant gratification, only recognizing that which is the most satisfying Or, that which is great, remarkable, above average.
You ever stop and wonder about the process? How do people achieve remarkable greatness? Well I suppose that some are born with gifts and talents than cannot be explained. But for the rest of us, is our time here worthless because we don't possess those gifts? Should we not try to achieve "the impossible" because we're too far behind to ever catch up.
What if our gift is stamina. A stamina to sustain a journey that is of greater distance than others. Often, these people might get over looked because they don't yet poses a skilled that stand apart from others of natural gifts. That's because we often focus in on the narrow details in life. However, if you stop and take a few steps back, you'll see a beautiful image you may have missed. The journey. The growth of an individual, a soul, and a spirit.
This personal journey is by far more rewarding than any natural gift you've been given at birth, because this gift was chosen by you. It's up to us to decide how to live, how we grow, what we seek after and when to stop. Don't forget to be amazed with yourself every day. And don't forget to recognize that process in others...and maybe say "well done" and "great job." We can all achieve greatness. Don't give up. Recognize each other's journeys. We may just all be trying to get to the same place.

An inspiration to me today: "Sometimes the people with the greatest potential often take the longest to find their path because their sensitivity is a double edged sword - it lives at the heart of their brilliance, but it also makes them more susceptible to life's pains. Good thing we aren't being penalized for handing in our purpose late. The soul doesn't know a thing about deadlines." - Jeff Brown

It's winter. (Even though it was 50-degrees up here in Maine). I was craving something hearty, but light, with a kick. I came up with this little ditty, French Lentil Soup. Let me know what you think.
