We are a group of researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore that design studies that help us understand how the va**na can protect itself from bacterial vaginosis (BV) and HIV. Looking for female volunteers for a study in which we hope to learn how healthy bacteria and bacteria associated with a va**nal infection called bacterial vaginosis (BV) and how PrEP (HIV prevention method) works in women. Volunteers must be 16-25 years old, have a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis (BV) from their medical provider, OR have no symptoms of BV (no discharge, itching, or odor).

Study participation involves up to 4 visits to a clinical research center, pelvic exams, blood draws, and surveys.

▪️ Be 16 to 25 years’ old
▪️ Have a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis (BV) and have been given treatment
Or
▪️ Have no symptoms of BV – no va**nal discharge, va**nal itching, or odor
Study participation involves up to 4 visits to a clinical research center, pelvic exams, blood draws, and surveys. Compensation is provided.

BV is not s*xually transmitted like chlamydia or gonorrhea, but having s*x does make BV more likely to occur.
Douching (or washing inside the va**na) does not prevent or treat BV, but it can actually cause BV!

We are currently recruiting women for two studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx:
Interested in helping researchers find better ways to protect women with BV from HIV infection? If you are between the ages of 18-45 and have symptoms of bacterial vaginosis (white-grey va**nal discharge, unpleasant odor), please contact our group. Reimbursement is offered.
Volunteers are needed for a women’s health research study. To take part, you must be healthy and 18-45 years old. The purpose of the study is to find better ways to protect women from HIV and other STIs. Study participation involves one visit to an outpatient clinical research center, free and confidential testing for pregnancy and HIV, a pelvic exam, and surveys. Reimbursement is provided.
