🏈 Super Bowl Game Plan for Today! (Plus Healthy Recipes)

The Super Bowl weekend can feel a little meh if your team isn’t playing. Even if football isn’t your thing, the commercials are fun and the game is a great excuse to be social and enjoy some food without going overboard.

If you are watching tonight, here’s a simple game plan to enjoy the day without waking up Monday feeling bloated or off track:

Pre-Game
✔ Eat a healthy breakfast and lunch
✔ Move your body, even a short walk
✔ Hydrate
✔ Have a healthy snack before the party
Game Time
✔ Fill most of your plate with veggies and healthier options
✔ Enjoy indulgences in realistic portions
✔ Avoid mindless munching and focus on socializing or the commercials
✔ Choose water or seltzer; if drinking alcohol, stick with lighter options
If things go sideways, let it go. One day does not undo your progress.

Perfect weather for homemade soup 🍲🥶

This soup is packed with onions, celery, carrots, and zucchini. I used a base of bone broth and added white cannellini beans for extra protein. A little seasoning, then I pureed it.

Tuesday Health Tip: That 3pm energy crash hits hard, and I know many of you reach for coffee. You can enjoy your coffee ☕, but often what your body needs is fuel, not more caffeine.

Make sure to include protein in your lunch and when you start losing energy try protein first. Easy, portable ideas: Greek yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, turkey roll-ups, protein shakes, jerky (no added sugar) , cheese and nuts, or edamame.

Small shift, steadier energy.💪

The East Coast is getting dumped with snow, and that means a lot of shoveling. ❄️

Snow shoveling counts as exercise, but it’s also a common cause of winter injuries. Do it smart.
• Warm up for 5 minutes before going outside
• Use smaller scoops instead of heavy loads
• Bend your knees and lift with your legs
• Keep the shovel close to your body
• Avoid twisting when throwing snow
• Take breaks and pace yourself
• Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath

Movement should support your health, not set you back. Stay warm and safe out there. 💪❄️

Brrr. It is cold here.🥶 Winter weather can increase inflammation during perimenopause and menopause. Less sunlight and colder temperatures lead to inflammation that can show up as joint pain, stiffness, fatigue, or exaggerated hormone symptoms.😑

Three evidence-based ways to reduce winter inflammation in mid-life:
• Omega 3 fats from fatty fish, flax, or chia to support joints and hormone health
• Vitamin D (from sunlight when possible or foods such as milk, eggs and sardines
• Anti-inflammatory spices like turmeric or ginger

Small, consistent choices matter more than doing everything perfectly.

Sunday Pancake Breakfast. Maybe not so pretty, but really tasty and filling and loaded with protein and healthy ingredients. Super easy to make and great way to squeeze in some extra protein. Check out the recipe below:

Ingredients:
▪2 eggs
▪1 mashed ripe banana
▪1/2 cup Greek yogurt
▪1/2 cup oatmeal
▪Pinch of baking powder
▪Pinch of salt
▪Cinnamon and vanilla to taste

Blend or stir all ingredients and prepare like regular pancakes.

If you can get outside today, there are lots of ways to move: go for a walk, try snowshoeing, or even shovel the driveway. Even shoveling is a full-body workout. It engages your arms, shoulders, core, and legs while giving your heart a boost.💪❄️
