I am so honored, humbled, OVER-FREAKING-FLOWING with excitement to announce my book deal with Hachette Books for NOT AWAKENED. This book is a personal tell-all... sharing my own personal stories of shame (hi, liposuction at age 16! the endless search to be accepted by the popular group! alcohol fueled insanity! crazy bulimia while creating Soul Camp! money s**t. s*x s**t. ALL OF IT) to help readers own and eradicate their own and create the brand, relationship, LIFE that they never thought possible.

It's my deep knowing - from my own personal life and the thousands and thousands of people I've worked with over the past 15 years - that all that we are looking for exists in the mud we are hiding. So get ready to roll in some mud with me.

I'm sharing an embarrassing, hilarious, true story, dedicated to all those - like me - who dove deeeeeeep into the NYC wellness scene in the 2010's.

We lunched at Jivamuktea Cafe Nyc! We networked at Pure Food And Wine. NYC! We detoxed and we cleansed and we tried to find ourselves.

The work that I do with clients is disguised as branding.
It looks like a tagline, it reads as a website, it feels like legitimacy,
And while the work leads there, while its tentacles touch all of those tenets…
That’s not the work at all.

My clients sometimes let out a nervous giggle when our breakthrough conversation bends to their childhood.
When I ask about their parents. About who they were in that 7th grade lunchroom.
About what happened in their life to lead them to become the burnt out corporate lawyer, or the do-it-all class mom, or the teacher with years and years of healing experience under their belt.
Weren’t we just here to create a logo?!
No, we’re here to understand a life.

Who was the young version of you that led to this adult one?
What did she go through? What did he learn?
What was the darkness that led to this light?
What was the mud that led to the message we are creating?
The transformation that becomes the tagline.

Oftentimes, it is the foundational issues that we struggled with and dealt with as kids that is the bigger reason we’re doing what we’re doing on this planet. It’s those feelings we tried to bypass or stuff that are actually the megaphones calling in the clients, the readers, the stages we’re looking to touch.

I never felt like I belonged with those around me, so I created a life that produces products and experiences devoted to connection.
Your parents were chaotic and messy growing up? Perhaps you needed to create a life that looks and feels neat, organized… perfect.

It’s in the understanding that leads to the expansion.
The awareness before the accolade.

I am currently thick in the process of selling a book about shame (well, my amazing Agent is).
The writing is fu***ng great.
The platform is fu***ng solid.
And… the book has not yet sold.

So, knock knock knockedy knock, take a guess who’s at the door.
Yes! It’s SHAME!
Maybe this book isn’t good enough.
Maybe your platform isn’t big enough.
Maybe you aren’t ENOUGH.

But I have worked with enough clients and have tapped into enough foundational issues to know that this shame is here for me to acknowledge. Own. Share.

Because it’s in the understanding that leads to the expansion.
The awareness before the accolade.
