I am pleased to announce the publication of our article, “How Has the Biopsychosocial Model Fared in S*xual Medicine and S*x Therapy?” in S*xual Medicine Reviews. My co-authors of this collaborative work were a distinguished group: Annamaria Giraldi, Sharon Parish, Daniela Wittmann, William Fisher, Sharon L. Bober, Alexander Pastuszak, and James Pfaus. It was supported by the MAP Education and Research Foundation. The article is available open access, with free PDFs downloadable at mapedfund.org (MENU → Resources → Publications).

This publication holds personal significance for me as it informed my philanthropic decision to donate $50,000 to Society for S*x Therapy & Research (SSTAR) last spring. That gift established an annual biomedical lecture at the SSTAR Spring Meeting, intended to broaden engagement with biomedical perspectives within the biopsychosocial model.

In parallel, a $50,000 donation was also made to the S*xual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) to endow an annual psychosocially focused lecture at the SMSNA Fall Scientific Meeting. It will be announced at this year’s Fall Scientific meeting and initiated the following year. I am also honored to chair a new complimentary pre-conference workshop at this year’s SMSNA Fall Meeting. Designed for mental health professionals. The workshop will feature a distinguished panel of s*xual medicine experts and will highlight current biomedical approaches to understanding and treating s*xual disorders.

Pleased to share the recent publication in S*xual Medicine Reviews titled "How has the biopsychosocial model fared in s*xual medicine and s*x therapy?" authored by a distinguished group including Michael A. Perelman, Annamaria Giraldi, Sharon Parish, Daniela Wittmann, William Fisher, Sharon L. Bober, Alexander Pastuszak, and James Pfaus.

The manuscript, generously supported by the MAP Education and Research Foundation, is now available online as an open-access resource. You can access free PDF copies of the article through the dropdown under the MENU__RESOURCES_PUBLICATIONS section on mapedfund.org.

This publication holds personal significance for me as it underpins my decision to donate $50,000 to the Society for S*x Therapy & Research (SSTAR) last spring. This contribution has enabled the establishment of an annual lecture at our Spring meetings, focusing on a biomedical perspective, aiming to enrich the knowledge base of our members within the biopsychosocial model framework.

In a reciprocal gesture, a parallel donation of $50,000 was extended to the S*xual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA). This donation facilitates the introduction of an annual psychosocially oriented lecture at their Fall Scientific meeting. Moreover, the upcoming SMSNA Fall meeting will feature a complimentary pre-conference workshop tailored for mental health practitioners. This workshop, chaired by myself and a panel of esteemed s*xual medicine experts, aims to enhance participants' comprehension of contemporary biomedical approaches to understanding and treating s*xual disorders.
