🌱💚 April is National Garden Month! 💚🌱

At Saint James Health, we’re all about supporting healthy living—inside and out! This month, we’re highlighting the benefits of home gardening as a simple, powerful way to improve your health and well-being.

Whether you’re planting in your backyard, using containers, or growing herbs indoors, gardening can:
🌿 Help you save money on fresh produce
🌿 Reduce food waste
🌿 Support your mental and physical health
🌿 Teach children where their food comes from

Not sure where to start? Try planning your space, choosing foods you enjoy, and even using SNAP benefits to purchase seeds! 🌼

🍲 Bonus: This month’s featured recipe is a delicious and nutritious Roasted Asparagus White Bean Soup—perfect for using fresh, seasonal ingredients!

At Saint James Health, we believe healthy habits start at home and grow into stronger communities.

💙🌍 National Minority Health Month 🌍💙

April is National Minority Health Month — a time to raise awareness about health disparities and the importance of improving health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority communities.

This month reminds us that access to quality healthcare, early detection, and education are essential to building healthier, stronger communities for all.

At Saint James Health, this mission is at the heart of everything we do. As an inclusive, community-based health center, we are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to every patient—regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

We go beyond traditional care by offering services and programs that support the whole person, including:
💙 Primary care for all ages
💙 Behavioral health & social services
💙 Nutrition programs & our Food Farmacy
💙 Community events, health education, and outreach throughout the year

We also prioritize your health and safety by maintaining the highest standards of care, including:
✨ Thorough disinfecting between each patient visit
✨ Weekly deep cleaning of our facilities
✨ HEPA filtration systems to support clean, safe air

Through our events, partnerships, and daily care, we strive to meet our community where they are, reduce barriers, and ensure every individual and family has the support they need to thrive.

This month—and every month—we remain dedicated to advancing health equity, access, and opportunity for the communities we proudly serve.

Proud to See the Impact of Saint James Health

We’re honored to see the work of Saint James Health and community-based care in Newark recognized. What’s happening in our city is clear: when healthcare is accessible, compassionate, and rooted in the community, patients show up—and outcomes improve.

Our health centers are busy because the need is real. Families are seeking care, support, and trust—and we are here to provide it. The model works because it meets people where they are, addressing not just medical needs, but the full picture of health.

But sustaining and growing that access requires continued investment. Community health centers are essential—not only for providing care, but for preventing illness, reducing emergency visits, and strengthening the overall health of our neighborhoods.

Our partnership with RWJBarnabas Health has been instrumental in this effort. Together, we are coordinating care, expanding services, and creating a more connected system that improves patient outcomes and supports long-term wellness.

As decisions about funding and resources move forward, we must remember: investing in community health centers is investing in healthier communities, stronger systems, and a better future for all.

We are grateful to serve Newark and remain committed to expanding access, advancing equity, and caring for every patient who walks through our doors.

Explore the vital role of St. James Health in Newark, providing essential primary care and support for community health needs.
