This morning, we celebrated the Grand Opening of Starbucks in our main lobby — and it was a latte fun! Caregivers, patients, and visitors came together to share excitement and enjoy a morning full of connection and community.

We’re thrilled to officially welcome everyone to this new space at our Newark campus — the perfect spot to perk up with your favorite coffee or tea, sit back and relax, and take a well-deserved moment to recharge.

Everyone deserves a great cup of coffee or tea — whether it’s the start of a long shift, a midday reset, or a small moment of comfort during a visit.

It is one of the most common movement disorders, characterized by involuntary shaking, most often in the hands. It can also affect the head, voice, or arms and is usually most noticeable during activities such as writing, eating, or holding objects.

While essential tremor isn’t life-threatening, it can make everyday tasks more challenging. Symptoms may worsen with stress, fatigue, or caffeine, and the condition can run in families.

If persistent shaking begins to interfere with daily activities, talk with your health care provider about evaluation and treatment options. Early care can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. 💙

Closings Due to Severe Weather

Due to the severe weather impacting our region, the following ChristianaCare services will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026. Patients whose appointments are affected are being contacted so that they can reschedule.
• Outpatient physician practices will be closed for in-person appointments. Virtual appointments will be completed as scheduled.
• All other outpatient services are closed, including outpatient lab, imaging and rehabilitation services.
• Elective surgical procedures are being postponed.
Our hospitals and emergency services continue to operate normally. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

To help protect our patients, visitors, and care teams during cold and flu season, we strongly encourage all visitors to wear a mask while in our facilities—especially in patient care areas. 😷

Wearing a mask helps reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses like flu, COVID-19, and RSV, and helps protect those who are most vulnerable.

We also ask visitors to help keep everyone safe by:
😷 Wearing masks properly (covering both nose and mouth)
🧼 Washing or sanitizing hands often
↔️ Keeping distance when possible

Happy 41st Birthday, Christiana Hospital! 🎉

On January 27, 1985, history was made. In the middle of a snowstorm, caregivers carried out an extraordinary operation—“M-Day” (Moving Day)—safely transferring patients and critical clinical equipment from Wilmington Hospital to the brand-new, state-of-the-art four-tower Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.

Captured in vintage NBC10 Philadelphia footage, this remarkable day marked more than a move—it marked the opening of a hospital built for the future, powered by teamwork, precision, and an unwavering commitment to patient care, even in the toughest conditions.

Forty-one years later, that same spirit of dedication and innovation continues to define ChristianaCare. 💙❄️
