As Eating Disorder Awareness week comes to an end, please remember those whose memory we continue to honor by spreading awareness and fight for local resources. They were wives, mothers, sons, daughters, friends, sisters, brothers, husbands, teachers, athletes, and active military. Each had hopes and dreams for the future. I know quite a few of the families who lost their loved one pictured below. Many of these families are great advocates and work relentlessly to help others.
Only 10% of those fighting an eating disorder will receive treatment.
Eating Disorders are the second DEADLIEST of ALL mental illnesses where a staggering ONE IN FIVE of those struggling will die.
Over 30 million men, women, and children are struggling with an eating disorder; that number doesn't include those fighting who do not meet "diagnostic criteria."
Eating disorders don't discriminate by age, gender, size, socioeconomic status or race.
With early intervention lives can be saved. Recovery is possible.
Everyone knows someone who has an eating disorder.
Please share, raise awareness, and never stop fighting.
If you have lost someone to an eating disorder and they are not pictured please post a photo in the comments.
