Our goal is to provide a safe gathering place for those touched by Special Needs. Remember, You are not alone! We hope you will find this group as a safe place to gather with new friends, make connections and share resources and ideas. Socialization is needed with our kids and family members so let's help them make new friends as well! Our daughter, Angel, has previously attended the Youth Group Stepping Stones at Oasis Church of Delaware on Wednesday nights, as long as it was in operation. She began to come out of her shell a little! I also partner with a non-profit, Travel with An Angel, LTD. With this, together we hope to provide a night of free respite care for families touched by special needs. They will be able to drop their child or family member off with our qualified volunteer staff and they can have a couple of hours to themselves to recharge! This program will be by registration only as we will have to secure the proper volunteers based on the family member's need. Monday nights at 6 pm we gather at The Oasis Church Building, 2200 Glasgow Avenue, Newark for Unique Blessings Free Dinner and Desserts! Everyone is welcome to come out and have a great meal, enjoy some dessert, and maybe start some new friendships! We host life skills workshops during the week, daytime groups, and then also a 6 pm Thursday night workshop for those that can't make the daytime group. These workshops are open to all ages and all learning levels. So far, the group has enjoyed learning about safety, cooking utensils, social skills, and many other topics. We do have a washer and dryer that was donated so once that it hooked up, we will be learning about the entire laundry process from sorting dirty clothes, to washing them in the machine, dryer and then folding them after they are complete. We have hosted Sensory Santa and Sensory Easter Events over the past 5 years and enjoy gathering with our friends for fun and fellowship!
