Every year the Newcastle Police Department does a birthday drive by honoring our resident Jean Szczerba's (in purple) son. Sadly Lieutenant Szczerba died in the line of duty. Lieutenant Szczerba served on the force for 18 years and also has many other family members on the force. He passed away in 2011 and every year since, they do this for his mom and make sure she knows that she raised a hero.
