BrightView's Anne Adkins in Toledo speaks with NBC about combating SUD during the holidays.

"If you're also struggling with a substance abuse disorder, that's going to impact it a thousand different ways because now you have to function in sobriety, maintain those skills as well as still navigating family, still navigating parties," said Anne Adkins, clinical supervisor for BrightView's Toledo addiction treatment center.

Holidays, birthdays and large events can all be tough to manage due to the expectations that come with them, but add addiction treatment into the mix and it becomes tougher.

WHIO in Dayton, OH chat with BrightView about the county's decrease in overdose deaths.

New numbers released by the Ohio Department of Health show the hard work is paying off. Montgomery County is now ranked 18 in the state for overdose deaths.”

In 2017 Montgomery County was ranked first in Ohio and the nation for overdose deaths, new numbers show they are now ranked 18.

For November, Ohio's Shining Bright Winner is Kandy Wolf, a nurse in Georgetown, OH. Kandy goes above and beyond for each patient. She is kind, empathetic, and truly listens to what the patient says. She is patient and compassionate with each person who crosses her path. When patients arrive, they typically ask if Kandy is available because something new and exciting happens in their lives. In other instances, they share hurdles and barriers they are facing. Kandy takes time, who rarely has time, to make their experience count. She is the sturdy and unwavering foundation for so many of our patients. We cannot thank her enough for her work every day. Thank you, Kandy, for everything you do to support our patients on their road to recovery!

Kentucky's Shining Bright Winner for November is Ullanda Douglas, a Clinical Supervisor in Campbellsville, KY. Ullanda cares deeply about her patients and team. She spearheaded 200 inductions at Campbellsville in October—spending countless hours planning and preparing clinical schedules. Ullanda has proven, consistently, that she meets the definition of a leader in every way. She stepped up in a time of need and has gone above and beyond for our patients. Douglas always has a smile on her face and makes you feel comfortable coming to her with any problem. Thanks for being the awesome person, Ullanda!

Congrats, Cleopatra McKinney, on being BrightView Virginia's Shining Bright winner. Cleopatra is one of the longest full-time employees at the Chesapeake location. She is a dispensing nurse and handles all blood work for patients. Currently, Chesapeake is short-staffed, and she is the only medical personnel outside of the providers. McKinney spearheads inductions, follow-ups, bloodwork, and urine drug screens while dispensing medication full-time. Cleopatra has unmatched patient communication skills and always goes the extra mile to help patients and make them feel comfortable.

The Gleaner in Henderson, KY, highlights BrightView's premier substance use disorder treatment.

"At BrightView, a local outpatient treatment provider in Henderson, new patients can schedule appointments through a 24/7 call center or online. The treatment center accepts walk-ins on weekdays from 8 am to 3 pm. Patients can get medication, counseling, and social services support immediately.
