Public transportation is a vital need in Licking County, connecting people to essential resources such as healthcare, nutritious food, employment, and social support. Demand for public transit in Licking County is growing rapidly, and ridership on the fixed route service has more than doubled in the last 4 years. On May 5th, voters will be asked to approve a 0.15 percent sales tax, 15 cents on a $100 purchase, creating a dedicated local funding source for public transportation and leverage additional state and federal dollars. The proceeds would provide additional general revenue for LCT and be used to preserve current services, expand routes, and add infrastructure such as bus shelters.

April is National Donate Life Month. Today, we honor living organ and tissue donors who have saved lives with their selfless gift. Birth tissue donation, including the placenta, amniotic membrane, amniotic fluid, and umbilical cord tissue, is often used in reconstructive procedures to promote healing and treat burns and painful wounds. To date, Licking Memorial Hospital has assisted with 195 placenta donations, which has created approximately 4,875 healing grafts.
