📢 On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Delaware Office of Management and Budget (OMB) hosted a Public Comment Session as part of the state’s budget hearings. Autism Delaware advocates, and many other disability advocates took advantage of this critical opportunity to advocate for increased wages for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), the dedicated individuals who provide essential care and support to people with disabilities across our state. 💙
Despite recent wage increases, most DSPs still earn below a sustainable living wage, contributing to high turnover rates and staffing shortages that directly impact the quality and continuity of care. Your voice matters in helping policymakers understand the real-life consequences of underfunding these vital roles. 🗣️
Whether you’ve experienced the dedication of a DSP firsthand, are or have been a DSP, work alongside them, or advocate for disability services, your story can make a difference, and our hard-working DSP’s need your ongoing support. 🙌
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we move through the state budget process to continue to advocate for DSP’s to earn a living wage.
