The gut health world loves L-glutamine. And for good reason, it genuinely supports intestinal repair. But there's a side of this supplement that rarely gets talked about, and as a functional medicine provider it's something I can't scroll past. Swipe or save this if you or someone you know has been taking it long term. ⬇️

If you have Graves' disease and radioactive iodine has been recommended, this is worth watching before you make that decision. One of my patients came to me after her thyroid numbers normalized, but her eye symptoms were getting worse. Nobody had explained the connection. In this video I walk through what's actually happening immunologically, and why thyroid eye disease can develop or worsen after RAI treatment.

Part 2 — now let's talk about what we actually do about heavy metal toxicity. Chelation therapy uses chelating agents — also called binders — that grab onto metals in your bloodstream and pull them out through your kidneys. In my practice, I use EDTA intravenously for lead and cadmium, and DMSA orally for mercury and arsenic. We choose based on what your labs show.

Mercury, lead, cadmium, and arsenic build up in your body over years — from food, water, dental fillings, even cosmetics. These metals sit in your ovarian tissue, block hormone receptors, impair your liver's ability to clear toxic estrogens, and deplete the minerals your body needs to produce progesterone and testosterone.

DHEA is the hormone behind your testosterone, estradiol and progesterone — and it peaks at 25 then drops every year. Most providers never test it. Here's the lab to order, optimal ranges for women and men, dosing by age, and why this one hormone supports your entire cascade.

You got the bloodwork. Everything came back "normal." But you still feel terrible — and now you're being handed an acid blocker or told to just manage your stress. Part 2 explains why that approach often makes things worse, what's really happening with the supplements TikTok is recommending, and what functional medicine testing actually looks like when we do it right.

When you understand what's actually happening at the gut lining level and how it connects to your hormones, your energy, and your brain, it starts to make sense why you've been feeling the way you do. This is Part 1. Part 2 is coming.

Most people have no idea that amalgam fillings are approximately 50% mercury and every single time you chew, drink something hot, or grind your teeth, they release mercury v***r directly into your body.

🔴 Do you have tiny red dots on your chest, belly, or back?
These are called cherry angiomas and in functional medicine, they can be an early sign of estrogen dominance. That means the balance between your estrogen and progesterone is off.

Acid reflux keeping you up at night? Here are five practical changes that made a real difference for my best friend (and many of my patients). We're talking about stopping late-night meals, understanding why antacids can backfire, using apple cider vinegar strategically, slowing down at mealtimes, and optimizing your sleep position. These aren't quick fixes, they're about addressing what's actually causing the reflux instead of just covering up symptoms. As a board-certified registered nurse practitioner specializing in functional medicine, I help women get to the root of their digestive problems. Ready for personalized support? Let's work together.

If you're taking thyroid supplements but your labs aren't improving, this might explain why. Your thyroid depends on iron, zinc, selenium, and protein to produce hormones, but your body can only absorb these nutrients when stomach acid levels are balanced. Low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria) means supplements pass through mostly undigested. High stomach acid creates gut inflammation that blocks nutrient absorption. Either condition prevents your thyroid from getting what it needs, no matter how many supplements you take. Understanding the gut-thyroid connection could save you money on supplements that aren't working and help you address the real issue: digestive health that supports thyroid function.

My Story

I began my nursing career in Critical Care at a small community hospital in Pennsylvania and transitioned into hospice a few years later. I attended Gwynedd-Mercy College school of Nursing where I graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing with honors in 2010. I completed my clinical hours in the Adult Primary Care setting with a sub-specialty in Orthopaedics and hold a board certification with the ANCC.

In 2012, I began my training with A4M with a focus on anti-aging, regenerative and functional medicine. I have been working as an integrative medicine practitioner for many years with experience in chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, thyroid and adrenal disorders, hormone dysfunction, autoimmune disorders, allergy and digestive issues.

I completed my fellowship and also hold a board certification as a diplomate in Anti-Aging, Metabolic and Functional Medicine. Patient education with a comprehensive and personalized approach is my passion. I currently reside in New Castle County Delaware and enjoy time with my daughter and beloved dogs. I enjoy gardening, painting, exercise, bicycle rides with my daughter, and photography.
