Black and Brown people make up effectively half of New Jersey's population and are gaining momentum in our power.

However, our collective voice is not yet fairly represented because New Jersey's white population continues to be overrepresented at the expense of Black and Brown New Jerseyans. At least half of New Jersey's districts should be Black, Latinx or Asian majority.

Black and Brown New Jerseyans are stepping into their leadership and winning back our collective power in order to address harms from racial disparities that exist here. From school segregation to inaccessible public health to the prison industrial complex, if these systems cannot serve us, we must build systems that do. Our power is undeniable.

The successes of ART and sustained viral-suppression mean that long-term care strategies for persons with HIV are coming into focus. Consequently, there will need to be increased attention to the co-incidence of HIV, long-term drug therapy and the co-morbidities and chronic health concerns commonly associated with the aging population at large. In 2018, over half (51%) of people in the United States (US) and dependent areas with diagnosed HIV were aged 50 and older. Though new HIV diagnoses are declining among people over the age of 50, about one in six HIV diagnoses in 2018 were among this age group.
