The Evolution of Tendon Care with Karin Silbernagel, PT, PhD, FAPTA

What happens when a curious clinician challenges long‑standing assumptions about tendon injuries? You get research that eventually helps reshape the PT profession. In our latest feature, Karin Silbernagel, PT, PhD, FAPTA, shares how a simple question: What do we really know about tendons? sparked a career of discovery that has transformed rehab practice worldwide. In the article, she also reflects on how early support from the Foundation Research Grant helped launch her influential research trajectory in the U.S.

Today we’re celebrating a story of leadership and generosity!

When the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research created the Fund for Excellence in 2021, it began with an idea from Stuart Binder‑Macleod, PT, PhD, FAPTA—who saw firsthand the essential work happening behind the scenes every day.

Stuart and his wife, Catriona, helped bring that idea to life with a $50,000 inaugural gift. Now, they are deepening their impact with a multi‑year commitment that brings their total support to $250,000.

Once fulfilled, their pledge will establish the Stuart and Catriona Binder‑Macleod Fund for Excellence, providing stable, unrestricted support for the Foundation’s most critical needs.
Their leadership not only strengthens the Foundation today but creates a model for others who want to make a lasting difference. Read the full article: https://foundation4pt.org/stories/building-a-legacy-of-unrestricted-support-the-binder-macleods-lasting-impact/

✨ Fellowship Friday! ✨

Manual Therapy Fellows met with the Fellowship Coordinator, Greg Seymour, to review and refine psychomotor skills for the lumbopelvic region.

The weekend focused on exploring the current evidence behind manual therapy, including indications, contraindications, and real clinical cases that guide decision-making in practice. The goal extends beyond learning how to perform techniques to developing a deeper understanding of who they’re appropriate for, when to use them, and why they matter in patient care.

These weekends are not only informative but also filled with laughter, collaboration, and motivation to continually improve clinical practice.
