Hi all...I know you haven't heard from us in a while..It is a crazy busy time of year, right? Well this time of year is also very difficult for kids struggling with symptoms of ADHD. I saw this article and wanted to take a minute to share. It is so important that we are giving these kids time to refill and recharge their emotional bank accounts. We do this with counseling and therapy sessions where we build self esteem and help kids to realize that our center is a safe place! Changes and progress may not be immediate or obvious but helping to build strong, confident, happy kids and families is our goal! Take a minute and read. This is what we are all about!

We were fortunate to hear Jessica McCabe in person in St Louis at the National CHADD (ADHD) conference 2 weeks ago. She is absolutely brilliant and has such an inspiring story. Her You Tube Channel has so much great information for those struggling with ADHD symptoms. Check it out...it's called "How to ADHD." Hi all, not sure what I think about many of these electronic gifts for kids with ADHD symptoms but I did talk to some of the companies putting out these watches that track focus during the day and also send text reminders to kids...Some of it can work if used properly...I am sharing a gift giving list for those interested...I like the weighted blankets! With Halloween making its yearly debut with bags of candy, costumes and wild decorations, it is important to consider how children with ADHD may experience increased difficulty managing symptoms such as impulsivity, hyperactivity and lack of focus. As you celebrate with your children, there are a few key tips that can help you have a safe and enjoyable night. A few tips mentioned in the article below include planning a trick or treat route in advance, setting ground rules while things are still calm, speaking with your child about social etiquette (such as taking only one or two pieces of candy), and understanding if your child is having a sensory issue with their costume.

We are aware there are many advantages of placing your child on ADHD medication, but what about the possible side effects, such as loss of appetite, sleeplessness, headaches, etc.? You may have been told by others (including your doctor) these sides effects are apart of the package. But is this acceptable? The answer is no!
