When it comes to safe sleep, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that twins and siblings always sleep in their own separate cribs or sleep spaces. Sharing a crib might feel comforting, but it increases the risk of overheating, rolling into unsafe positions, and sleep-related tragedies.

The safest setup? Place each baby on their back in their own crib, on a firm mattress with a fitted sheet, in a clutter-free sleep space with no pillows, blankets, or toys. Twins and siblings can still share a room, just not the same crib. Keeping them close, but safely separate, gives everyone peace of mind.

Even when the weather keeps us off the road, we’re still here for you. 💛❄️

Due to severe ice and snow from this weekend’s storm, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will not be in service this week. But support doesn’t stop just because the bus isn’t parked nearby.

Our Care Mobile team is available Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. to help you navigate resources, answer questions, and support you and your family.

📞 Call or text: 812-842-3171
(Messages are monitored during office hours.)

If you or your child are experiencing a medical emergency or need immediate care, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

We’ll be back on the road as soon as it’s safe to do so. Until then, you’re never alone—and help is still just a call or text away. ❤️

As our region prepares for winter weather, some Deaconess facilities and clinic locations across Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky may experience delays, limited services or temporary closures. We will share any updates to our normal operations on Deaconess.com and through our social media channels so you can stay informed.

If you have an appointment scheduled in the coming days, please contact your provider’s office to confirm the location’s status and discuss options, including virtual visits when appropriate. Our teams are here to help you find the safest, most convenient way to receive care.

All Deaconess hospitals and Emergency Departments (including OB ED) will remain open, providing 24/7 care for anyone needing immediate medical attention. If you are experiencing a life threatening emergency, please call 911.

We remain deeply committed to caring for our patients and communities, and as this winter storm approaches, we ask you to stay safe, travel with extra caution, and check on neighbors, friends and loved ones who may need support.
