Stella is a NICU graduate mom and long-time member of our NICU Parent Support Board here at The Women’s Hospital. For the third year in a row, she and her son, Liam (age 6), partnered with German American Bank to collect new books throughout November in honor of National Prematurity Month.

These books are gifted to current NICU families to read to their baby at the bedside and later at home. Reading to newborns supports bonding and offers many developmental benefits. All books are donated to Logan’s Library, created in honor of Logan—the son of another dedicated volunteer on our NICU Parent Support Board.

Thanks to Stella and the coordinated efforts of German American Bank, more than 400 books were collected this year. This program helps build each child’s library during their NICU stay and is just one of the many meaningful services our NICU Parent Advisory/Support Board provides.

When Heather delivered her daughter Josie at just 25 weeks, she weighed only 1 lb. 7 oz. The Women’s Hospital NICU team became their extended family — offering expert care, reassurance, and compassion every step of the way.

Four years later, Josie is thriving — a bright, energetic big sister who reminds us of the strength and resilience of our tiniest patients.
