To my patients and the medical community:
As many of you may have heard, I am transitioning out of clinical practice at the end of August. Obviously, this was not any easy decision or one made lightly. After 17 years in a very rewarding joint replacement practice, I felt the time was right for the next chapter of my career and a new challenge.
I wanted to take the time to personally thank all of you who put your faith and trust in me to be your doctor and, in many cases, your surgeon. I understand the tremendous trust a patient puts in their doctor to take care of them, especially when they're in pain. Orthopaedics is not life, but it is limb (quality of life). My goal was always to honor that faith and do my best for you.
My biggest joy was getting to know many of you on a personal level. There is a lot wrong with medicine these days. But the doctor-patient relationship will always remain the core of what we do. It's unfortunate that healthcare has, in some ways, lost sight of this. The good news is that my new role allows me to begin working on solutions to make things better for doctors and patients.
Many of you have asked where I'm going and what I'll be doing. In September, I will join Commons Clinic as SVP of Care Services & Strategy. In this role, I'll be working closely with physicians, executives, insurance companies, clinic and ASC staff, and others to build a new model of specialty care. I'm excited about the opportunity and hope you will follow me in this new journey.
Finally, I want to thank my wife Ann and daughters Zoe and Camille for their unwavering support. I do it for them...but I couldn't do it without them.
My best to all my patients, colleagues, and community members from Hanover, PA to Columbus, GA to the North Shore of Massachusetts. It's been quite a journey, and I'm just getting started!
