A wonderful announcement!
When a dream becomes a vision, and a vision becomes a reality . . .
NBCR Friends and Trusted Partners - 3 years ago, our group met for the first time with passion and a dream to provide help and support for people living with cancer and their loved ones. Our vision soon became the creation the first comprehensive on-line directory of cancer-specific support groups, programs and services as well as a listing of qualified and compassionate providers of complementary therapies such as massage, acupuncture, reiki and yoga therapy to name a few, for the communities north of Boston. In February 2018 we launched the North of Boston Cancer Resource website, https://www.nbcancerresource.org/ ,
Today, we are pleased to announce a major milestone along our journey - North of Boston Cancer Resource is officially a 501c3 non-profit organization!
Receiving our tax-exempt status is a huge step toward establishing formal governance and sustainability to our passion, and increasing our fundraising ability. This will allow us to advance our newly expanded mission to “Enrich the well-being of people living with cancer and their loved ones by enhancing access to resources, education and services that empower and support the whole person.” For us this simply means helping more people affected by cancer to receive more support and services.
Recently NBCR merged with the Seacoast Cancer Coalition, a passionate volunteer-based fundraising group who bring with them a 16+ year history of grassroots networking and event facilitation, engaging their community to raise over $1MM for cancer research and patient care to-date. With our combined experience, abilities and hearts, we are greater than the sum of our parts!
The real work begins now. With our newly merged team, a formal Board of Directors in place, and the ability to accept tax-exempt donations from businesses and individuals, we can now roll up our sleeves and begin to explore all the possible ways we can provide people living with cancer and their loved ones with the support and resources they need, as we seek to first and always care for the whole person.
Thank you all for your encouragement and support. The best way you can help us now is to spread the word!
