We will be operating on our remote inclement weather plan for Monday, February 2, 2026. If you have a need, please call the office. Medication refills should be requested at the pharmacy first; if you have not received a response within 72 hours, please leave a message for us to follow up. Avery Wellness will be operating on a 2-hour delay on Monday, 2/2/2026. We plan to be in the office by 10 AM. We will update this page should our plan change. We are so grateful for the blue skies today. Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, we will open at 10:00 AM, provided it is safe for travel in the morning. If there are any changes to this plan, we will post here first. Thank you for your patience while we tried our very best to handle things remotely during this storm.

Due to continued inclement weather and below-freezing temperatures, Avery Wellness will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 26, 2026. Hello Avery County! You’ve had days to prepare for the winter storm coming our way. We hope you are as ready as you can be and that we get nothing but rain! However, models are showing ice, snow, rain and at the end frigid temperatures. If this happens Avery County Emergency Management is ready. In the event of large scale power outages we have 3 warming shelters on standby. The Rock Gym in Newland, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Banner Elk and Riverside Elementary school in the lower end of the county. The Rock Gym in Newland will have the animal trailer as well, if you go to the other shelters with animals they must be crated, no exceptions. If/ when these shelters are opened we will announce it here and in hyper-reach for the areas it affects. If you need to utilize a warming shelter please bring your blankets, pillows, snacks & your medications. EOC will be on standby and open if needed, the non-emergent number once opened is 828-733-8273. Do NOT call 911 for General Information, it is for emergencies only. We are from the mountains and winter weather is not new to us, don’t panic, just be prepared.

When planning a trip to the store for essentials like bread and milk, take a moment to review your prescriptions and ensure you have an adequate supply of essential medications. If you require a refill, please contact the pharmacy directly to determine availability and request a refill if necessary. If you've contacted the pharmacy and haven't received your refill within 24 hours, please reach out to our office, and we'll investigate further. Note that refills requiring prior authorization may take up to 72 hours, so prompt attention to this matter is advised.

In the event of inclement weather, Avery Wellness may adjust office hours to prioritize staff and patient safety. We are equipped to operate remotely with limited capacity, ensuring office phones are answered and staff can communicate effectively to address various needs. Rest assured, the health and safety of our patients and staff will always remain our top priority.

Happy New Year! Our office is closed today, we will reopen tomorrow, 1/2/2026. We will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Our regular office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8-5, and Friday, 8-12. We are closed daily for lunch from 12-1.
