“Late Talker or Language Delay?”

🍂 Fall Edition: Build a Speech Pie! 🥧

Not sure if your child is just a “late talker” or showing signs of a language delay? Let’s make it simple—and seasonal.

🧠 Imagine your child’s communication as a pumpkin pie:
• 🧡 One slice = gestures (pointing, waving, clapping)
• 🧡 One slice = understanding (following directions like “get your shoes”)
• 🧡 One slice = sounds (babbling, animal noises)
• 🧡 One slice = words (“mama,” “ball,” “go”)

👀 If most slices are missing, it could be more than a delay. A speech-language evaluation helps us understand if your child needs extra support.

🍽️ We want them to enjoy a full pie—not just a sliver.

📞 Call us to schedule a toddler-friendly speech screening. Let’s catch it early and build strong communication—one slice at a time.

“When Words Are Lost, Connection Doesn’t Have to Be”

After a stroke or brain injury, speaking may become difficult—but connection is still possible.

AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) devices give adults a way to express their thoughts, needs, and emotions—even without using spoken words.

🗣️ Communication is a right—not a luxury.
📞 Call us today to learn how AAC can support recovery, dignity, and independence.

“Don’t Wait to Hear Words…”

Still waiting for your toddler to start talking?

Early intervention can make a huge difference—even before the first word is spoken. Communication begins with eye contact, babbling, gestures, and understanding simple commands.

If your child isn’t showing these signs, you’re not alone—and you’re not too early to act.

👶 Early help is the best help.
📞 Call us to learn more about starting speech therapy services for toddlers.

NEW Live Webinar: Understanding Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL) - Free for COPAA Members

Join Selene Almazan, Esq, COPAA's Legal Director, and Denise Stile Marshall, M.S., COPAA's CEO, for a one-hour live webinar on UPL.

Description: Special education advocates are an important resource for families and a growing profession. Although there are currently no licensing requirements, educational requirements, or enforceable ethics codes for special education advocates, an advocate is expected to have knowledge and expertise concerning special education and its applicable federal and state laws and work within the bounds of those laws. Advocates fulfill many roles; however, an advocate may not give out legal advice to parents (i.e., practice law). What constitutes the practice of law varies from one jurisdiction to another. Participants in this session learn how the unauthorized practice of law is defined, interpreted, and applied in the courts. Strategy tips for avoiding UPL are also discussed.
