This dreadful blistering rash is very contagious so keep it in mind and take action as soon as possible. Your pediatrician can send out a culture to confirm the bacteria if there are any weeping or blistering wounds. If your child is prone to eczema and thus skin infections, it may be a good time to start prophylactic bleach baths if you live in South Orange County.

Back to school illlnesses. Please keep a febrile child home and help keep other children well. Many children are prone to secondary complications such ear infections or asthma. What may be a small cold for one child can turn into more for another.

I am seeing unprecedented cases of styes and have no idea why! From people traveling out of the country to local cases. Not too often I find that the patient also has pink eye. I will treat with erythromycin ointment to ease the pain and rubbing of the eyelid on the eyeball. Talk to your doctor as soon as you notice any redness in the eye. Fun times back at school 😵
