MEET OMAR SALAZAR, BA - PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Omar works under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Nozaki (PSY35140), performing therapy and psychological testing for clients of all ages. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at California State University, Fullerton. He is pursuing his PsyD in Clinical Forensic Psychology at The Chicago School.

Omar has two years of experience working as an applied behavioral analysis therapist for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other comorbid disorders. He also has two years of experience working with the transitional age youth experiencing homelessness and mental illness in rapid stabilization, job readiness, and work readiness skills. Omar worked at a forensic and neuropsychological private practice in which he assisted the psychologist in evaluations concerning child custody, parental rights, violence risk assessments, and cases involving personal injuries in the workplace. Most recently, Omar served as a practicum student at Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives (VIDA), which is a diversion program for nonviolent youth. At VIDA, Omar provided individual and family therapy, as well as conducted psychological assessments concerning emotional, developmental, and behavioral disorders.

Omar is passionate about combating the stigma surrounding mental illness, as well as working with diverse populations. Omar views the therapeutic relationship with his clients as a collaboration and strives to work with his clients at their own pace. Furthermore, he is bilingual in English and Spanish.

MEET KAYLA LIM, MA - PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Kayla works under the supervision of Dr. Samira Vafadar (PSY28213) and Dr. Nicole Lightman (PSY28608), providing therapy and psychological testing for all ages. Kayla has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine. Additionally, she earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University and is currently pursuing her PsyD at The Chicago School.

Kayla has four years of experience working as a Behavior Interventionist providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adolescents diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and down syndrome in home and school settings. Furthermore, she has been working as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist for the past three years providing therapy to underserved populations, veterans, children and adolescents, families, couples, and adults with various mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, and trauma.

Kayla is passionate about integrating a holistic approach using cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy strategies. She aims to provide a space that is authentic, collaborative, and supportive environment where clients feel safe and empowered throughout their journey. MEET JESSICA KIM, MS - PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Jessica works under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Kwon (PSY33823), providing therapy and psychological testing to clients of all ages. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and earned her Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University. She is currently pursuing her PsyD in Applied Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School.

She has over 13 years of experience working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has provided services to children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other neurodevelopmental disorders in both home and clinic-based settings. Her work includes conducting functional behavior assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, implementing behavior intervention strategies, and providing parent training. She has also facilitated group-based social skills programs to support children and adolescents in building meaningful peer relationships.

Jessica is passionate about helping children and families reach their goals and live more fulfilling lives. She values individualized, compassionate care and strives to create a supportive and respectful environment for every client. MEET NADIA CHAVEZ, MA - PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Nadia works under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Kwon (PSY33823), providing therapy and psychological testing to clients of all ages. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Sonoma State University and earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Long Beach. She is currently pursuing her PsyD in Applied Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School.

Over the past 6 years Nadia has worked with different populations in a therapeutic setting. Nadia is current Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #138059). She has worked in substance abuse treatment facilities, mental health facilities, for adolescents and adults. She has worked with children doing ABA therapy and in therapeutic settings focusing on play therapy. Her work has included treating and assessing individuals for suicidal ideation, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships. She has facilitated therapy groups focused on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Safety planning, Anger Management, and Social Skills.

Nadia is dedicated to supporting families and individuals in supporting their mental health process. She values the therapeutic relationship with every client and focuses on honest communication, compassionate care, respecting differences, and focusing on supporting the client in their needs and goals.
