Last month, Hoag was named the first Center of Excellence in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in the world.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, Hoag pioneered this advanced approach—combining cancer removal and reconstructive techniques into one procedure, reducing additional surgeries and helping women preserve confidence during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

This global designation honors the surgeons, fellows, and visionaries like Dr. Melvin Silverstein, along with the donors who made it possible, including the Muzzy family and many others who continue to shape the future of breast cancer care.

“Being recognized as a Center of Excellence affirms Hoag’s commitment to care that is both oncologically rigorous and deeply patient-centered,” says Dr. Sadia Khan.

Philanthropy Brings First-in-Region Digestive Diagnostics to Hoag

Celebrating a major milestone at Hoag: the first CellTolerance® C‑FIT procedures in Southern California, made possible through philanthropy. This cutting‑edge endoscopic imaging allows physicians to diagnose digestive diseases in real-time. The first procedures utilizing this new technology were led by Linda Nguyen, MD, Hoag’s chief of gastroenterology at the Digestive Health Institute, and Catherine Ngo, MD, gastroenterologist, whose expertise in GI motility and gut‑brain interaction guides this innovative work.

We are grateful for the philanthropic support driving Hoag’s clinical innovations to advance digestive care in the community. hoag.info/cellt
