Meet Aaron J. Przybysz, MD, PhD (pronounced “SHIB-ish”), Hoag’s inaugural John L. Curci Family Endowed Chair in Pain Management. Since joining Hoag in 2024, Dr. Przybysz has been transforming pain care—combining cutting-edge science, compassionate treatment, and multidisciplinary collaboration to put patients at the center of care.

Thanks to the Curci family’s philanthropy, Hoag now offers the only West Coast facility dedicated solely to interventional pain care, expands access to non-opioid therapies, and advances research into innovative treatments for conditions like chemotherapy-induced neuropathy.

“Our goal is to create a center of excellence in pain management—bringing together technology, science, and heart to improve lives,” says Dr. Przybysz.
