This year, we were honored to dedicate the Pacific Life Foundation Lobby at the entrance of the Du Family Hospital Pavilion on the Sun Family Campus in Irvine, celebrating a meaningful partnership rooted in supporting families when they need it most.

Pacific Life Foundation has long been a valued supporter of Hoag's Irvine expansion, including the Pacific Life Foundation Courtyard in the Benjamin & Carmela Du Emergency Pavilion. Their generous gift to the Boldly Hoag campaign reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the well-being of our community.

Hoag and Pacific Life share core values: supporting people through life’s most critical moments and investing in the long-term health of families.

The new lobby will welcome patients and visitors for years to come, symbolizing the impact we can create together.

✨ A heartfelt gift for Hoag’s tiniest patients ✨
Lauren Eckert, co-founder of Little Buddha, returned to the place where her motherhood journey began—Hoag Hospital Newport Beach—to donate ultra-soft bamboo beanies for newborns in the Labor & Delivery unit.

Lauren shared:
“I delivered my oldest at Hoag and will never forget the care and support I received. This holiday season, I wanted to give back to the families and care teams who make those first moments so meaningful.”

Thank you, Lauren and Little Buddha, for spreading warmth and comfort to our newest arrivals and their families. 💛

At Hoag, research, innovation, and community care come together in a unique way. Our privademic model blends the personalized care of a community hospital with the research excellence and advanced training found in academic medicine—creating an environment where discoveries move swiftly and compassionately from lab to bedside.

Patients benefit from care that is both human and high-tech, thanks to clinicians and researchers working side by side to bring new therapies to life. With a nimble infrastructure and a focus on innovation, Hoag opens clinical trials faster than most academic centers, giving patients early access to promising treatments.

Philanthropy fuels this momentum. Support for endowed chairs, fellowships, and pioneering research empowers physician-leaders and scientists to push boundaries while keeping patients at the heart of every breakthrough.

Endowed chairs are among the highest honors Hoag can bestow on a physician—and one of the most powerful ways donors shape the future of care. Created through philanthropy and invested in perpetuity, these positions provide lasting support for research, technology, education, and training.

We’re honored to announce two newly established chairs that will expand innovation and strengthen care across key specialties:

• The John L. Curci Family Endowed Chair in Pain Management, for which Aaron Przybysz, MD, PhD, will be the inaugural chairholder, supporting advanced, multidisciplinary care for patients living with chronic and complex pain.
• The Daniel G. Smith Endowed Chair in Addiction Medicine and Prevention, established through the generosity of the George Hoag Family Foundation, reinforcing Hoag’s leadership in prevention, treatment, and research.

Endowed chairs are catalysts for discovery, giving physician-leaders the tools, time, and resources to push boundaries and elevate care. They reflect the heart of Hoag’s privademic model, where academic-level innovation meets the compassion of a community-rooted health system.
