Today:
Paris, France → Nouakchott, Mauritania.
Direct flight! Visa approved!
(6-hour direct flight on Air France. A visa is necessary to enter Mauritania; one of the most complicated visas to obtain, in my experience. It took mine six months to get approved!)

The average global traveler will visit 18 countries in their lifetime.

Over 15 years and four CNN travel shows, Anthony Bourdain explored 80 countries.

Mauritania will be my 100th country experienced (at 49 years old)... on my own schedule, and in my own way; because I have always been extremely curious and passionate about absolutely everything, from extreme simplicity to ultimate luxury. I have always appreciated it all.

This was my passionate goal: to explore 100 countries before my 50th birthday.

34 years old (5/18/2010): 34 countries
46 years old (5/18/2022): 69 countries
47 years old (5/18/2023): 74 countries
48 years old (5/18/2024): 89 countries
49 years old (5/18/2025): 96 countries
50 years old (5/18/2026): 100 countries
