Idk what momma needs to hear this but trouble don’t last always! Whatever you’re going through whether it’s postpartum depression, a lonely pregnancy, single parent hood

(HG) is NOT morning sickness.
HG is a severe pregnancy condition that causes constant nausea, excessive vomiting, dehydration, weight loss, and sometimes hospitalization. Some women can’t keep down food or even water.
It’s not “being dramatic.”
It’s not “just the first trimester.”
It’s a serious medical condition that deserves to be taken seriously.
Let’s raise awareness and advocate for better support for HG moms. 💛

Cry because you’re exhausted.
Cry because your body still hurts.
Cry because the house is quiet when it shouldn’t be.
Cry because you don’t know how you’re going to keep doing this tomorrow.
Nobody talks about the 3AM feeds when it’s just you.
Nobody sees the bills, the fear, the pressure, the way you hold it together all day and fall apart in the shower.
You are carrying a newborn and a heartbreak.
You are healing and surviving at the same time.
If you’re barely holding it together right now… let the tears fall. You are not weak. You are overwhelmed. There’s a difference.
And somehow — even like this — you’re still showing up.
That makes you stronger than you feel. 🤍

🌊 Sitting by the ocean, I’m reminded: postpartum is its own tide. Some days you crash, some days you flow… and that’s perfectly okay.
Your progress isn’t measured by a timeline — it’s measured by showing up for yourself and your baby, even when it’s messy, even when it’s hard.
Take a deep breath, mama. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. 💛

My 4-year-old said, “I’m pacing myself.”
Sir… you were sightseeing for the first half of the race.
But that last stretch??
Olympic trials.
Wind in his curls.
Arms pumping like he just heard, “Last one there cleans their room!”
Slow start.
Fast finish.
Main character energy only. 🏆🤣

FYI it is rude to ask a woman when she is having children….. I said what I said 🤷🏾‍♀️

Women’s History Month is about honoring the women who came before us — and the ones becoming new versions of themselves right now.
Postpartum is history in the making.
A woman healing.
Adjusting.
Becoming.
Don’t just celebrate her strength.
Support her through her transformation. 🤍

It’s the first day of March.
A new month.
A fresh start.
A reminder that seasons change.
If you’re in postpartum and feeling tired, overwhelmed, or unseen — this is not your final form.
Just like the earth transitions from winter to spring, you are transitioning too. Comment “new season” if you’re claiming renewal this month 💛

As we close out I want to honor the life of Dr. Janell Green-Smith, the black midwife who passed last month unexpectedly after delivery.

I’ve posted the below the link to this interview that her aunt was so kind of enough to do, that gives more insight on what happened.

Thank you Dr. Green-Smith for your contribution to making black maternal health more safe for black women.

Protect your peace, mama 🤍
Pregnancy is sacred. Not everyone deserves access to your body, your energy, or your journey. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to step back. It’s okay to choose quiet over chaos.

And if protecting your peace means cutting off the baby’s dad or ANYONE else who is disturbing your spirit — then that’s what it means. Boundaries are not bitterness. They are protection.

Your baby feels what you feel. So choose peace. Choose rest. Choose you. 💛

You are growing life — that alone is enough.

Black history isn’t just something we look back on.
It’s in the rooms where we advocate when a mama isn’t being heard.
It’s in the hands catching babies with intention.
It’s in the education, the protection, the presence.
The grand midwives paved the way — and we’re walking it boldly.
As Black doulas and midwives, we’re not just supporting birth.
We’re protecting legacy.
We’re shifting outcomes.
We’re creating history in real time. 🖤

Postpartum is sacred. Yes.
But sacred doesn’t look the same for every woman.
Some moms want quiet.
Some moms want their mama in the kitchen.
Some want laughter in the living room.
There is no gold star for isolation.
There is no prize for overexposing yourself either.
The only thing that matters is this:
What does she need?
Normalize asking women what they want instead of telling them what they should do. 💛
