We hope everyone is having a great week so far! Just a reminder that with the colder weather approaching, it's important to take a few extra steps to protect your health and well-being. Here are some friendly reminders and precautions to keep in mind this season.

1️⃣Stay Warm and Comfortable==Keep your home at a safe temperature, ideally between 68-72 degrees.
2️⃣Keep Up with Handwashing and Hygiene==Cold and flu viruses spread more easily during colder seasons.
3️⃣Stay Hydrated and Nourished==It's easy to forget to drink water when it's cold outside, but hydration is just as important now as in summer. Eat well-balanced meals to help your immune system stay strong.
4️⃣Prevent Falls==Wear shoes with good traction, clear pathways of clutter.
5️⃣Get Your Seasonal Vaccines==Talk to your healthcare provider about Flu, RSV, Covid-19, and pneumonia vaccines.
6️⃣Stay Connected==Shorter days and colder weather can make it harder to get out and see others. Stay in touch with family, friends, and caregivers.

STAY WARM, STAY WELL, AND TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF THIS WINTER --💙From your friends at Family Centered Resources, Inc. 💙

The best of Fall is here! 🍂 From pumpkin patches, fall festivals, craft brews, local wines, and crisp outdoors adventures--the season's magic is everywhere 🍁🍺🍷🏈 ...even where it shouldn't be..

For instance, one of nature's nuances, the Spotted Lanternflies. They are bad news for plants and trees, and they swarm in large numbers and can cover outdoor spaces, cars, or furniture. They damage plants by feeding on sap, leaving behind a sticky substance that promotes mold growth. If they live in your area, stomp or squash them, scrape and destroy egg masses (they look like smears of dried mud on trees, furniture, or vehicles).

🌏World Mental Health Day: A Moment to Pause and Remember What It Means to Be Human

Today reminds us that mental health is not a luxury--it's a foundation. It shapes how we think, connect, create, and care. The truth is, every one of us walks through unseen struggles. Some days our minds are steady; other days, they feel like a storm. And that's part of being human. Just remember there's COURAGE in admitting we're not always okay and STRENGTH in reaching for help or offering it to someone else.

Every year on 10 October, the world observes World Mental Health Day, a global movement to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for better access to mental health care. The theme for 2025, “Mental health in humanitarian emergencies,” is especially timely. Around the world, armed conflicts, natural disasters, pandemics, and economic crises are placing immense strain on health systems and communities. While many experience temporary distress, nearly a quarter of affected individuals may go on to develop conditions such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder if timely support is not available. The first goal is to change the mindset that no emotional distress is minor, as it is subjective for everyone. Moreover, timely professional care helps address mental health struggles before they can escalate further, preventing complications. "One of the most common things I hear from clients as a clinical psychologist is, 'I wasn't sure if what I'm feeling is bad enough to see someone.' A lot of people think that therapy is only for times of crisis, so it's a good reason to be hesitant. In fact, getting professional help isn't just about treating mental illness; it's also about keeping mental health in check before it gets too bad."
Reach out if you or a loved one is struggling today.

“Assisted Living at Home”

There’s no place like home, especially when you’re not feeling well. Our home care nurses and staff help you live safely at home with expert and responsive care.

Family Centered Resources, Inc., (FCR) was established in April 1994, after working with families in different settings in our community, and finding that clients and families need more than just skilled care at home. Personal care assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and assistance with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and transportation for appointments and errands, often allows clients to remain living at home for many years, and remaining at home is the first choice for most individuals. My parents' home care needs and my family's struggle to find reliable, qualified help, led to the establishment of this agency in 1994. FCR has become a successful and reputable provider of home care because our goal is to provide the type of care that we would expect for our own loved ones. Our agency accepts private pay and Medicaid payments for our services, as well as Long Term Care Insurance. FCR is a family-owned business, not a national franchise, and we are proud to provide these services in the community where our family has lived and worked for over 70 years and where we plan to continue to provide services for many generations to come.
