Pictured below is Jamestown, America's first permanent English settlement! Jamestown was almost abandoned after the brutal "Starving Time" winter of 1609-1610. Only 60 of 500 settlers survived but reinforcements arrived just in time and so did improving relations with Native Tribes--enter Pocahontas. For almost 200 years, this historical site actually disappeared due to erosion and change in the land. It wasn't rediscovered until the 1990s.

Nature's signs that indicate winter days are ahead...observe the Male American Goldfinches--these songbirds are typically a brilliant lemon-yellow in the Summer but molt into a dull olive color during Winter. 🍃

❄️From birds gathering in flocks to squirrels preparing their nests, the world around us starts moving a little differently this time of year.

Theses small signs remind us how important it is to prepare, stay mindful, and take care of ourselves and those we love. Shorter days, cooler evenings, and the quieting of nature are all cues to check in on our health, our homes, and our loved ones. 💚

There’s no place like home, especially when you’re not feeling well. Our home care nurses and staff help you live safely at home with expert and responsive care.

Family Centered Resources, Inc., (FCR) was established in April 1994, after working with families in different settings in our community, and finding that clients and families need more than just skilled care at home. Personal care assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and assistance with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and transportation for appointments and errands, often allows clients to remain living at home for many years, and remaining at home is the first choice for most individuals. My parents' home care needs and my family's struggle to find reliable, qualified help, led to the establishment of this agency in 1994. FCR has become a successful and reputable provider of home care because our goal is to provide the type of care that we would expect for our own loved ones. Our agency accepts private pay and Medicaid payments for our services, as well as Long Term Care Insurance. FCR is a family-owned business, not a national franchise, and we are proud to provide these services in the community where our family has lived and worked for over 70 years and where we plan to continue to provide services for many generations to come.
