🎃Happy Halloween from the crew at Healthstar Physicians Premier Medical West! 🎃

We have Wybie, The Hamburglar, a Toro leaf blower, and Scarecrow in the house! We’re a perfect fall medley of characters for sure!

As a special treat for our families, we’ll be closing a little bit early today (3pm). We apologize for the inconvenience. Hope you all have a fun and safe evening!

🐶 Meet Meeka and Brutus! 🐾
These two wonderful dogs are currently in the care of our friends at Foxy family Rescue, one of our dedicated local East Tennessee animal rescues.

This year, our office is raising funds and awareness for Foxy Family Rescue through our annual Pumpkin Painting Contest (see the previous post to vote — each vote turns into real dollars for the rescue!). But we wanted to do even more for an organization that does so much for our community and truly needs our support.

Along with spotlighting Meeka and Brutus, upon adoption with their forever homes, I’m personally sponsoring each of their enrollments in the online Basic Manners 1 & 2 courses with All Dogs Go To Kevin LLC — a positive-reinforcement training program that’s fully online and self-paced. These are the same classes my wife and I used to train and build trusting bonds with our own dogs (including two independent-minded Great Pyrenees!).

💛 How You Can Help Foxy Family Rescue 💛
1. Adopt or foster a dog or cat.
2. Share available pets with friends, family, and online — out-of-state adoptions are welcome!
3. Donate:
* Directly to Foxy Family Rescue.
* Vote for your favorite pumpkin at our Newport, TN office (994 US-25W 70 Ste. 4, Newport, TN)— every penny equals one vote! All funds raised go to Foxy Family. Voting ends Nov. 21, 2025.
* Vote in the comments of our 2025 Pumpkin Painting Contest post or reel. For every unique vote, I’ll personally donate $1, and for every share, $0.50 to Foxy Family Rescue (limitations apply; see the original post). Voting ends Nov. 21, 2025.

Foxy Family Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit making a real difference for animals across East Tennessee. At Healthstar Physicians Premier Medical (West Office), we’re proud animal lovers who believe every pet deserves a loving home.
For questions about Meeka, Brutus, or other adoptable animals, please reach out directly to Foxy Family Rescue or visit www.foxyfamilyrescue.com.

🎃Tomorrow is the last day to vote — online or in person — for your favorite pumpkin! 🎃 100% of donations are going to the University of Tennessee Cancer Foundation in Memory of Ward Williams 💙. There are two ways to vote and donate:

1. Come in and vote for your favorite pumpkin by dropping any amount of money into the cup next to your favorite pumpkin. Every penny equals one vote! So $1.00 is 100 votes! In person voting ends November 8th, 2024 at 3pm.

2. Cast your vote in the comments of this post or my previous video post, using the numbers 1-6. For every online vote in the comments, I’ll personally donate $1.00 (up to $200 total combined across Facebook and Instagram). We only have 12 online votes right now…LET’S FIX THAT! Online voting ends November 8th, 2024 at 11:59pm. One vote per person.

All pumpkins are hand painted and designed by the staff and family of Healthstar Premier Medical West!

You can find us at 994 W. Hwy. 25-70 Ste. 4 Newport, TN. If you have any questions, please call us at 423-237-6964, option 2.

Grease, but make it ZOMBIES 🧟‍♂️☢️! If you have an appointment today, there will be zombies present ‼️ We promise, however, that our brains are still intact and that we don’t bite…but we might break into random song and dance 🎶! Happy Halloween! 🧟 🎃

Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pumpkin in person or in the previous post! Voting ends November 8th. All donations are going to the UT Cancer Foundation in memory of Ward Williams.

Just wrapped up an enlightening four days at the Obesity Medicine Association’s annual conference in Denver, CO! 🌟💼 It was incredible to immerse myself in the latest research, treatments, and strategies for combating obesity and promoting healthier lifestyles – and to see some of my favorite fellow obesity medicine physicians: and Dr. Mark Schwartz! From innovative therapies to impactful patient care techniques, every session left me feeling inspired and empowered to continue to help others lose weight in healthy, sustainable ways. Huge shoutout to all the speakers and organizers for an amazing event! Let’s continue to work together to make strides in the fight against obesity.

MD: Medical Doctorate

Earning my MD included four years of medical school at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Memphis, TN . I then completed three years of Family Medicine Residency at The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee , where I served as co-chief resident and was awarded the Resident Teacher Award from The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM). I’m board-certified in family medicine through both the American Board of Family Medicine and The National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and maintain these certifications through continuing medical education and exams.

FAAFP: Fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine

“Fellows of the AAFP are recognized as champions of family medicine. They are the physicians who make family medicine the premier specialty in service to their community and profession. From a personal perspective, being a Fellow signifies not only 'tenure' but additional work in your community, within organized medicine, within teaching, and a greater commitment to continuing professional development and/or research.”
-AAFP

DABOM: Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine

Becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine signifies that I am board-certified in obesity medicine. Being board-certified in obesity medicine means I’ve undergone additional – and extensive – medical training and testing in the evaluation, management, and treatment of obesity and overweight. This creates a deep knowledge of the complex disease of obesity to properly and compassionately address the root(s) of the problem(s) and to help people lose weight and improve health in ways that are safe, sustainable, long-lasting, and backed by evidence.
