Traveling out of the country this upcoming holiday season? Check to make sure you and your family are protected against measles with the MMR vaccine.

Measles is still common in many parts of the world, and each year unvaccinated travelers bring it back to the U.S. The safest step: get the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Plan to be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before your trip. Even if you’re leaving sooner, getting a dose of MMR can still help protect you. One vaccine covers all three diseases: measles, mumps, and rubella. Learn more at www.HealthVermont.gov/Measles

In today’s increasingly digital and sedentary world, encouraging young people to stay physically active is more important than ever. One simple yet powerful way to promote a healthy lifestyle and appreciation for the environment is by walking. This daily habit, combined with regular physical activity throughout the school day, plays a key role in children's physical, mental, and emotional well-being today and beyond.

Research shows that when students are allowed time to move and play, they are better able to manage their energy levels and emotions. This can lead to fewer behavioral issues and a more positive experience at school.

By prioritizing physical activity both at home and in school, we can help children thrive—one step at a time.

Thank you, St. Paul's Catholic School & Orleans County Sheriff's Department and Officer Battista. If you would like more information or would like to sign your school up to participate in a Walk to School event, please contact Nicole Locke at Nicole.Locke@vermont.gov

Lead poisoning CAN be prevented. Find out how to keep your kids safe from lead hazards.

Lead poisoning can be prevented when you know what danger signs and hazards to look for in your home and in other places.

Lead dust can be anywhere. Ask your doctor to test for lead at ages 1 and 2. It’s the only way to know!

There is no safe level of lead in the body. Lead can harm anyone, but babies, young children and pregnant women are at special risk.
