The two Samaritan hospitals in Lincoln County were well represented at the annual Oregon Coast Community College Career & Technical Education Expo last week in Newport. 👩‍⚕️🏥 👨‍⚕️ Our staff chatted with college and high school students about the many career possibilities in health care and demonstrated some interesting medical procedures using training tools. Oh, and there was the popular photobooth, too, for the future surgeons, techs and other medical pros to show off their best smiles. 😷 😁

👏 Thanks to gifts made to the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation, Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital now has a new Sara Sit‑To‑Stand lift!

This essential tool helps patients safely move from sitting to standing, protects staff from lifting injuries and supports dignified, efficient care.

✨ Key benefits of the new lift:
• Patients can walk behind the lift for greater independence and mobility.
• Disposable slings improve hygiene and availability.
• An extra unit reduces wait times and keeps care moving smoothly.

Your support makes equipment like this possible and improves access to care for the whole community.

❤️ Today, Samaritans across our system are proudly wearing red for National ! And this is only some of them - more to come!

American Heart Association's Go Red for Women annual campaign raises urgently needed awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among women.

By wearing red, we join millions across the country in sparking conversations about prevention, early detection and the unique symptoms women may experience.

Today we stand together supporting survivors, honoring those we’ve lost and empowering women everywhere to know their numbers, understand their risks and take charge of their heart health.

Did you know? Each week, nearly 30 individuals take time to volunteer at the guest assistance desk at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. 🥰 ❤️

These caring, kind and smiling volunteers welcome guests and patients as they enter our hospital. They diligently train to stay current with new processes, learn the names of new providers, and stay informed on what services are offered.

When asked the "why" behind their decision to volunteer, the most common response is: “To help people and see their smiles.” 😃

Next time you come in the main entrance, take a moment to say hello to one of our guest assistance desk volunteers!

Blood donation is so important! Read about Megan and Ava's story and consider scheduling a donation in memory of Ava. 💜

🩸 January is National Blood Donation Month!

Megan Hosmer, one of our own at Samaritan Health Services, began donating blood after her stepdaughter Ava relied on frequent transfusions during cancer treatment. Inspired by Ava’s strength, Megan now donates regularly — and her blood has even helped patients right here in our community after making it's way to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

💪 You can make a difference too. Donating takes about an hour, can save a life and be done year round.

👉 Find a donation site near you: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive

🖥️ Read Megan and Ava's full story at https://samhealth.org/news/turn-loss-into-action-with-blood-donation/.

❤️ Donate today. Every drop counts.
