Nye Beach was named for John Nye who claimed a 160 acre parcel in 1866. In the 1880's the property was purchased by Sam Irvin, and in the 1890's the "summer people" began coming to Nye Beach in large numbers. They came by train to Yaquina City on Yaquina bay, where the railroad ended, then by ferry boat to the bayfront. Finally by the boardwalk built in 1891 to connect the Bayfront with Nye Beach. In 1905 Sam Irvin built a log cabin recreation center featuring a dance hall, bowling alley and an outdoor horse show pit. He also built a hotel which became Newport's first hospital during WW1. In 1912, the New Cliff House and the popular Natatorium were built. The building now housing The Yaquina Art Association was built in 1913 as a bath house. Today the Historic Nye Beach oceanfront neighborhood retains the charm of its historic warm village atmosphere of shops, services, lodging, resturants and art galleries by the sea

Nye Beach is staying open late this Friday the 21st for a Holiday Open House from 4–7 PM.

Club Nye Beach is hosting a sip-and-shop.

ultralife cafe has live jazz from 4–6 PM plus wine and beer specials open till 7p

Archway Market is pouring complimentary beer tastings.

And a bunch of other businesses are staying open with many extras and surprises.

We had such a wonderful breakfast/lunch today from Stephanies Cafe Nye Beach. You can have the most amazing breakfast or lunch 🥪! Shoot even an amazing coffee and a muffin if you like!
