On November 25, the Newton Rotary Club learned about the many services offered by Rehabilitation & Performance Institute (RPI), located on East Morgan in Newton.
Physical therapists Anna Mette (second from left), Kelly Thomann (third from left), and Breanne Buerster (right) described their services, and the special skills they each have. Other staff who were not present are PT Assistant Derrick Boyd and Secretary Heather Wakefield.
They also allow high school students to do job shadowing.
Dr. Thomann pointed out that a Doctorate is required to be a Physical Therapist, which takes about 7 years, which Mette and Buerster have also attained.
Their treatment philosophy is an holistic, whole-body approach, with one-on-one care. They determine possible underlying causes of pain or dysfunction.
They do rehabilitative services, such as sports injuries, post-surgery, fall prevention, and pain of lower back, neck, shoulder, or knee.
Pain management can include education about chronic pain, and functional dry needling.
They can provide exams and evaluations of movement, running, musculoskeletal wellness, and sports-related screening of golf and baseball hitting and pitching movements.
Some lesser known services relate to Parkinson's issues, voice therapy, dizziness and vertigo, and specific issues of Women's Health.
