What a busy past 4 days! I was able to be a Workshop Speaker at the Kansas Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership convention and teach four Stop the Bleed certification classes at Newton High School. We also talked about how to recognize patients with op**te overdoses, what Naloxone is and how to use it for narcotic overdoses.

Next up this week is a Search and Rescue/First Aid training event and then on to next week!

Ingrid is “rebuilt” and ready for 4 Stop the Bleed classes at Newton High tomorrow! Lookin’ good!

Had a great time at the KFB Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership Conference today.

Based on what participants told me the “First Aid on the Farm” work shop session was pretty well received. We’ll likely be doing some full scale First Aid sessions in the future with various Farm Bureau groups.

Gettin ready for the Young Farmers and Ranchers trade show and my workshop presentation this afternoon.

We’ll be talking to people at the 5.11 store vendor fair until 3 pm today.

Come on down…they have a 25% off sale on all 5.11 brand gear. That’s pretty good!

We finished up our 4-evening Wilderness First Aid certification class for the Troop 127 Northern Tier canoe adventure crew this past Wednesday. It was a lot of fun and the participants learned a lot.

Not a single PowerPoint was used. The hands-on training was very popular!

Our new Wilderness First Aid class for the Troop 127 Northern Tier crew is working well. The format is primarily hands-on outdoor First Aid training.

In our 2nd session last evening we covered identifying and treating trauma injuries on the trail.

Wilderness First Aid is a 16-hour class. We have broken it up into 4 evening sessions which is easier on brains and behinds.

Here are some photos of Session 2.

If interested in doing a similar session contact Doug Trumble at dougtrumble.emt@gmail.com.

We’re looking forward to teaching our next Wilderness First Aid class for the Troop 127 Northern Tier adventure crew.

This class is a bit different…we are teaching it over the course of four Wednesday evenings. Parts of it will be taught in the Troop Room and part of it on the trail.

This class is full but if you are interested in Wilderness First Aid classes that are all hands on, you can contact us by email, text or call dougtrumble.emt@gmail.com or 316-217-6047.

Had a great afternoon with our Basic First Aid/Stop the Bleed/CPR/AED class for Harvey County Farm Bureau.

Here we are splinting a humerus and applying a sling and swath.

I wish I had the presence of mind in class to take more photos.
