Our Story

Being prepared and knowledgeable about dangers is a big step in keeping you and your family safe in an emergency. The Harvey County Safety Fair was created as an opportunity to teach preparedness strategies to community members. The first Harvey County Safety Fair will be held March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chisholm Trail Center, 601 Southeast 36th Street in Newton. The event coincides with Severe Weather Awareness Week. The event has topics and activities for all ages, benefiting those just beginning their preparedness steps and those who are experts in the field. Events include demonstrations, speaker presentations, exhibits, family activities, food trucks and more. Many of our partner agencies will be at the event, such as local first responders, volunteer organizations and weather preparedness experts. Several of the events will be held indoors, ensuring the safety fair will be held regardless of weather conditions.
