We spent some time yesterday getting to know our newest hires, and we just had to share why they chose NMC Health.

Some joined because they heard about the passion of our staff. Another joined because their former boss had such high respect for our CEO. And another new teammate said that after seeing the care their own family received here, they wanted to come out of retirement and work in Food and Nutrition Services to serve others: "I can't give you medication, but I can give you food to nourish your body."

Whether they're in the kitchen or the clinic, they’ve found a home here. Help us welcome them!

We’re looking for more passionate people! Join us: https://tinyurl.com/lovemynewjob.

Before you head to bed tonight, don't forget to 'spring forward' your clocks! 🕒

While we’re excited for the extra evening sun, even a one-hour shift can temporarily affect your sleep quality and energy levels. To help your body adjust:

✅ Set the clocks before you go to sleep.
✅ Dim the lights 30 minutes before bed to help your brain wind down.
✅ Plan for a gentle morning—give yourself a little extra time for coffee or a stretch.

It’s the first thing you feel when you wake up and the last thing on your mind when you go to bed. Chronic tendon pain isn't just "soreness"; it’s a thief that steals your morning walks, your golf game, and your focus.

Stop the cycle: https://bit.ly/4rOuh5K.

Tendonova offers pinpoint healing, targeting only the damaged tissue with precision, but without the stitches or the long hospital stay.

The best part? A rapid recovery.

Now that's something worth celebrating.

Your legs do a lot of heavy lifting for you! But if you’ve been on bed rest lately, are expecting a little one, or have a family history of deep vein thrombosis, it’s important to give them some extra attention. 🩺

Keep an eye out for things like:

📌 A leg that feels unusually warm, red, or swollen.
📌 Calf pain or tenderness that makes it tough to walk.
📌 Veins that look a little more "puffed up" than usual.

If something doesn't feel quite right, don't just "walk it off." Come chat with us! We have four family medicine offices nearby ready to help: https://bit.ly/3rovgMT

What does it mean to be an Athletic Trainer?

✅ ATs are board-certified healthcare professionals. They hold clinical degrees and specialize in everything from emergency medicine and injury prevention to clinical diagnosis and rehabilitation.

✅ ATs don't just tape ankles and hand out water. They manage concussion protocols and develop long-term recovery plans that get athletes back in the game safely.

✅ ATs don't only work during games. They spend hours on preventive screenings and one-on-one rehab long before the first whistle blows.

Join us in saying THANK YOU to our NMC Health Athletic Trainers for the expert care they provide our local athletes!

The History of Newton Medical Center

More than a century ago, Dr. John T. and Lucena Axtell founded Newton’s first hospital, Axtell Hospital. For four decades, the Axtells served the community until they passed on the hospital to the Kansas Christian Missionary Society. At that time, the name was changed to Axtell Christian Hospital, a Christian Church/Disciples of Christ organization. At the turn of the century, Reverend David Goerz and Sister Frieda Kaufman founded Bethel Deaconess Hospital as a mission of the Mennonite Church. Mennonite deaconesses remained involved with the hospital’s operations until 1983. On Jan. 1, 1988, the two hospitals merged to become Newton Medical Center.
