At a recent in , Carolina Caring partnered with Aaron Libby Photography to offer something unique and deeply meaningful: professional portraits for veterans at no cost.

These portraits show items that reflect our veterans' time in service, from well-worn badges to cherished keepsakes, and share the stories behind them. One of those stories belongs to U.S. veteran Mervin Showell, whose life of leadership spans from serving in Vietnam to a long-term career advocating for veterans care through the VA.

These events serve as a strong reminder that everyone has a legacy, and everyone deserves to be cared for with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Just over a year ago, Carolina Caring brought experiences to its patients through a partnership with Rendever and Lenovo.

At the end of 2025, to more than double our capacity to offer immersive VR to hospice and palliative patients:
▪ Lenovo donated 8 ThinkReality VRX headsets to our organization, a value totaling $9,600
▪ Carolina Caring Foundation purchased 4 new tablets and a 1-year subscription to Rendever’s award-winning VR software, a $14,000 investment

Through VR, patients often receive decreased anxiety, improved physical and emotional symptoms, and meaningful connection with caregivers or loved ones.

We are deeply grateful to Lenovo, Carolina Caring Foundation, and the who make care innovation like this possible.
