NESCA Founded by Ann Helmus, NESCA is one of the most well respected and recognized pediatric neuropsychology and integrative treatment practices in New England.

We’re collaborative—We believe that together, we achieve better answers for children and families. We care, deeply—We’re a values-driven organization. We chose our profession because we enjoy helping children and families. We have high expectations for ourselves. We build relationships—We help children build connections with parents, siblings, teachers, peers and the greater community. We’re invested in the success of children and families. We’re real and relatable. We support each other and our collective mission as NESCA. We are curious, lifelong learners—We learn from each other, openly sharing our experience and ideas and inviting those of our broader professional community. We’re not afraid to ask questions. We’re creative problem solvers—We’re flexible, not formulaic, in how we approach a situation. We act as detectives, embracing complexity, looking at the data beyond the data, leveraging a broad array of unique tools and strategies to deliver an approach to evaluation, coaching, consultation and treatment that’s personalized. We look for the good in every child, unearthing strengths and identifying the services, tools and coaching to accommodate limitations while enhancing strengths.

Ever wonder why a bright, capable child still struggles with schoolwork? It’s not about effort. It’s about how strengths like intelligence interact with skills like attention, organization, and emotional control. Smart kids can still struggle, especially as school demands increase.

To better understand the “performance gap” and how to support your child more effectively over time, check out our latest blog.

At NESCA, spring is our busiest time of year. Many families seek evaluations now to inform planning for the upcoming school year, including school placement decisions, IEP and 504 planning, and academic supports.

As a result, appointment slots fill quickly. If you anticipate needing an evaluator to participate in a school team meeting this spring, the evaluation process needs to be completed by the end of April to allow adequate time for testing, report preparation, and coordination with the school.

If you’ve been considering an evaluation, now is the time to book.

At NESCA, we work hard to make exceptional care more accessible. We accept BCBS and United Behavioral Health, offer 0% financing, and support automated payment through HSA/FSA accounts. We also offer limited Saturday appointment slots to accommodate busy family schedules.

Our highly individualized sexual health education program provides accurate, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive education to help adolescents and young adults navigate topics related to relationships, self-advocacy, and sexual health.

We focus on essential life skills that are often not covered in school curricula, or that our students have not been able to access, and that can be challenging for parents to address independently. Our goal is to equip students with the skills necessary to make informed and safe decisions about their bodies and relationships.
