: As many as 13% of women over 50 engage in disordered eating behaviors - a reminder that eating disorders don’t have an age limit. But we can change this story.

With early intervention, education, and support, healing is possible at any age. When clinicians, teachers, and families recognize the signs, lives can be changed.

This Giving Tuesday, your generosity powers the early support that makes recovery possible. Make a donation: https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E334883&id=120

Jordan’s story could have turned out differently.

In 2nd grade, one small comment from a classmate spiraled into years of fear, secrecy, and eventually hospitalization. By the time Jordan reached MEDA, the damage had already been done.

This happens every day.

Most medical professionals receive less than two hours of training on eating disorders in their entire education. Kids like Jordan are being missed. Families are being told, “It’s just a phase.” And early signs go unnoticed until it’s too late.

Your gift helps MEDA train providers, support families, and offer compassionate, informed care when it matters most. This GivingTuesday, help us change the story, donate here: https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E334883&id=120

We want to be clear:
• Eating disorders don’t discriminate by gender.
• Up to 25% of those struggling identify as male.
• Men deserve recognition, support, and recovery.

Stigma and stereotypes make it harder for men to get diagnosed, seek treatment, or even talk about what they’re going through. But the truth is, your struggle is real, and your healing matters.

Men deserve compassionate, expert care for eating disorders too. If you or someone you care about is wrestling with food or body concerns, MEDA is here to help.

Take the first step. Reach out to info@medainc.org. Recovery begins the moment you’re seen.

In this deeply informative and candid episode, we sit down with Robyn Kievit , NP, RD, CEDS, MSCP, (the first dietitian to become a nurse practitioner) for an essential conversation about perimenopause, menopause, hormone therapy, and eating disorder care in midlife. With decades of clinical experience and a rare blend of expertise in psychopharmacology, hormone health, and adolescent care, Robyn brings a compassionate, whole-person lens to topics often left out of ED treatment conversations.

This episode is a must-listen for anyone supporting individuals through life transitions—clinicians, clients, and loved ones alike. Robyn shares wisdom, warmth, and refreshing honesty as she explores:
• Why individuals with eating disorders are so often overlooked during menopause
• The legacy of misinformation from the WHI study—and its lasting impact on care
• How vaginal health, hormone therapy, and trauma intersect in complex ways
• The critical need for collaborative, non-siloed approaches to midlife care..and so much more.

Robyn’s insights are both grounding and empowering - reminding us that no one should have to navigate these changes alone. Whether you’re seeking clinical tools or personal reassurance, this conversation offers clarity, connection, and hope.

Tune in and be reminded: your questions are valid, your body deserves care, and full recovery is possible at every life stage.

Join us virtually on Friday, December 12th from 12-1 p.m. ET for Networking with a Purpose, "Feeling Torn: Meeting Ambivalence with Curiosity and Compassion" presented by The Renfrew Center's Director of Clinical Outreach and Education, Samantha DeCaro, PsyD.

Ambivalence is a natural part of eating disorder recovery, yet it can leave both clients and providers feeling stuck. In this talk, attendees will gain the tools needed to approach ambivalence with compassion, curiosity, and confidence.

Drawing from The Renfrew Center’s Unified Treatment Model, Dr. DeCaro will share evidence-based strategies to help your clients clarify their values, find their own motivation for change, and take meaningful steps toward recovery. Through relatable examples and concrete interventions, participants will discover ways to strengthen connection, foster trust, and gently guide clients from uncertainty to clarity and action.

Join us TOMORROW, November 17th for a compassionate, clinician-and-community conversation exploring the realities of eating disorders in midlife and beyond. Too often overlooked, these experiences deserve understanding, visibility, and support.

This unique hybrid event—open to both professionals and the public—features author and recovery speaker Betsy Brenner. Betsy will be joined by clinician Beth Mayer, LICSW for an interactive, facilitated discussion that uplifts the voices of adults 50+ navigating recovery.

Together, we’ll explore how aging intersects with body image, identity, and health - and how healing, connection, and self-compassion are possible at any age.

Kindness has a ripple effect - and even the smallest acts can make a big impact.

Kindness is healing. It builds connection, strengthens community, and reminds us that we’re not alone. Let’s carry that energy forward—not just today, but every day.

Today, for , choose one small act of kindness. Maybe it’s checking in on a friend, offering a genuine compliment, or simply holding space for someone who needs it.
