Do you think being emotional is a good thing? or a bad thing? are you comfortable with your emotions?
Check out my recent blog post where I dive into why being emotional is a gift to treasure and not a burden to avoid.
I have always been a pretty emotional person since childhood. I feel all of the emotions and I feel them hard and it can be too much to bare sometimes. The theme of all the jokes, the nicknames I was called, the stories about me people repeat and laugh about over the years all have to do with me bei

"The difference between intuition and anxiety:
Intuition is calm and clear.
Anxiety is loud and urgent.
Intuition speaks once and feels grounded.
Anxiety repeats the same fear over and over.
Intuition feels like quiet knowing.
Anxiety feels like racing thoughts.
Intuition brings clarity.
Anxiety creates confusion.
Trust the quiet voice."

My name is Ani Sevag. I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist in Newtown Square.
I asked how can I lead a more meaningful life, how can I help make things better. The answer I got was Massage Therapy. I attended Cortiva Institute - Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy in 2012 and got the answers to those questions. In school I learned how our bodies are these amazing specialized organization of cells wrapped in layers of soft tissue with a wicked intelligence. I learned how to listen, watch and palpate stagnant areas of the body. I learned techniques that help facilitate relief from tension and pain. I also learned how to hold space for someone to free themselves from their tension, and sometimes thats all they need.
After massage school I continued to study yoga, began an Ayurvedic health regimen with the guidance of a practitioner, regularly received acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments, and continue to experiment with and learn about as many alternative and holistic therapies. I’m devoted to learning about anything that allows me to heal mind body and spirit through as many natural and non-invasive therapies, to heal myself but to also be able to educate my clients on their options outside of western medicine. From 2015-2019 I taught Massage Therapy at Cortiva Institute where I deepened my understanding and knowledge on new and old techniques.
We are complex beings that experience life on multi levels. When we fall ill or injured, our quest for healing and balance tends to be one dimensional. Worse is we throw very strong and invasive tactics to fix either our mental, physical or spiritual health. This often perpetuates a cycle of disease rather than achieving a healthy balanced state, because we fail to consider all 3 of them at once. We are Mind Body Spirit beings, and our experiences positive or negative shape our Minds, Bodies and Spirits. Because of this, self care and healing must happen on a Mind Body Spirit level. My sessions are guided by these 3 things:
Clarity in the Mind - I schedule appointments to optimize time for reflection. Prior to the massage we discuss your goals with massage, and any physical, mental or emotional factors that may be playing a role in your journey to balance. Massages begin with a short guided meditation to ease the mind into a more peaceful state before we start addressing the body. After the massage, we discuss any note able changes or experiences as a result of the massage. Questions and concerns are brought up at this time as well as instructions for after care for the next 24 hours.
Health in the Body - Through careful consideration of your goals, I organize a plan for the session that is uniquely catered to your goals and needs. I am trained in a wide variety of techniques which varies in pressure starting from 5 gs of pressure to 150 lbs of pressure. I see value in every technique. I adjust the pressure and technique according to your needs, as well as feedback received from the tissue and the body in response to the work. A wise person once said “the issues are in the tissues”. I look for the stagnant areas in the body and find the proper techniques that facilitates movement in the adhered tissue. By releasing tension in muscles and connective tissue we now send a domino affect of improved function throughout all the systems in the body. skeletal alignment, increased circulation, relaxed nervous system, improved digestion by relaxing visceral organs, improved lymph drainage, strengthened immune system.
Peace in the Spirit - The word “spirit” here is intended to simply mean that which is bigger than yourself. After the massage a common experience is feeling light, as if limbs actually weighed less, ease in movement, revitalized. When we remove stagnancy in our body we are waking up parts of us that has been neglected, we are able to sense feel ourselves as whole being rather than fragmented parts. As a result we are able to extend past ourselves and connect to our higher selves.
